Human

An ambitious race, the origin of humans is somewhat a mystery. Records of where they came from across the sea have been mostly lost to time. It is still clear, however, that they arrived some time during Scourge, the event that cursed the Dragons. It was convenient to take control at that time, and they would have likely failed if the Dragons had not fallen.   Now, humans make up the majority of the population of Xanthiri. They hold dominance in both the North and South Realms. However, that is not to say they are totally unified. Customs and relations vary greatly by ethnicity and country. Humans also tend to in-fight more than others, being more individualistic than other races.

Gender Ideals

Gender expectations vary depending on region. Humans either default to the binary system from their early societies, or adapt to ideals of their surroundings.   Human societies follow a very binary system as modeled by early religious influemces. They are semi matriarchal, however. Women are seen as pure protectors and creators, generally suited for “high skill” work, while men tend to more menial “low skill” work. These roles tend to be rigid and confining for many, especially women. Women who wish to break from expectations are met with resistance.   In recent years men and women have been able to have similar jobs, but are still expected to conform to these ideas in some way (women must be cunning, men must be strong). As such, it is usually women who pursue jobs in politics and academia. Men usually have labor jobs and are soldiers. However, there are still soldier women and scholarly men, though more rare.

Relationship Ideals

Human societies are bisexual, as gender has no bearing on who you can love. Marriages between same gender couples are a regular occurrence. The richer partner will take the other into their family, occasionally bringing other family members as well. This used to be done to support new members of the family, but is often used for business purposes as well.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Relations with other races is mixed.   On one hand, the dominant human nations of Estea and Agnum tend to have prejudices against other races. On the other, individual humans easily intermingle with other races. Most half race children being half human. They are also more likely to integrate into other cultures, especially with Dwarves.   Draconic are extremely hostile towards humans across all realms, more so than the Elves. There are still many Elves that do have relations with humans, mainly the Sylphs, though that is more through assimilation.
