Sophia Endecott II

Grand Duchess of Traid

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Sophia is one of two sovereigns of Kalastrad that is a woman. Unlike Angel IV, though, Sophia was born to a patriarchal family, earning the title on her own. Her father was the *Earl* of *Traid* when she was born, being the seventh in the line of "Earl Endecott"s. She grew up not being allowed to play outside with her brothers or the other children. Rather, her mother kept her in and taught her needlepoint and how to knit. She was forced to read poetry and learn to dance the Minuet. In time, she would come to resent all of this less, actually coming to enjoy knitting, but, at the time, she hated it.   Despite her protest, however, Sophia did mature into a model lady of the court. She was dubbed a Baroness at age 17, and invited to court along with the other ladies of Traid. Unlike her compatriots, Sophia made no efforts to throw herself at every lord that passed her by. This actually ended up serving her well, as it caused the king himself to take notice of her (this was during the reign of Alegiro Moore III, predecessor to *Iradin I*).   When Sophia was 20, she was called upon by the king to serve on a council regarding the continued support of the Baliklavan Confederacy's war. Some of the people had become restless due to the length of the war, and Kalastrad's continued support of it. It was one this council that she met Geminus Hildebrand. He was serving on the council, having been lauded as a hero of the Baliklavan front. The two developed a friendship, seeing each other often at meetings. After a few months, the council dissolved, decided to continue financial support of the war, but withdraw their troops.   Following the end of the council, Geminus and Sophia began to find excuses to see one another. Be it asking silly questions or superficial advice, they were always coming up with new reasons to be together. When Geminus' sister was getting married to the Viscount of Genova, Geminus asked her to go to the wedding with him. This brought her hopes to an all new high that he might be moved by the wedding to ask permission to court her.   Before the chance was had for anything to move that direction, Sophia got a letter telling her that her father had died. By the time she made it back to Traid, her mother had followed suit reportedly dying of grief. As condolences and a reward for both her diligent time at court and her family's honored history in service to the crown, her title was raised to "Grand Duchy". The previous Grand Duke of Traid had died some years back, leaving the seat vacant until the King elected to fill it. Sophia was the one he chose to fill it with.   In the years following, she has ruled her lands well. Many look to her like a mother-figure, seeing all the people of Traid as her children. She has also become good friends with Angel, partially due to their mutually feeling like a fish out water being a female sovereign in a male-dominated court, but mostly because they simply enjoyed one another's company. She has consequently befriended Angel's husband, Enoch, leading to many encounters with Enoch's uncle, Geminus.    Finally, after nearly ten years of dancing around things, Geminus asked Sophia to marry him. Naturally, she said yes. In the six years since, the two have had three beautiful children. However, despite all the joy she feels in her new life, she regrets never having met Cage, her step son. Though, legally, she has adopted him, and would welcome him as only a mother could if she ever got the chance, she has yet to so much as give her son a hug.

Education

Like a great many of the nobleborn, Sophia was educated by private tutors.

Employment

She is employed as the Grand Duchess of Traid.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Sophia, like many of the more traditional nobles, believes that it is her job to parent the land and its citizens. She is firm but fair. Quick to forgive, but not to forget. That is how she rules.   Sophia is a very soft spoken woman. She is generally quite kind and caring, but is a stern ruler, expecting much from everyone around her. It's more common to disappoint her than anger her, but, when she is pushed, her wrath is something to be witnessed.
