Diocletian's Quill

Diocletian's Quill is one of the artifacts said to have belonged to Diocletian, the Fourth Son. As an apprentice to Yarn, Diocletian was insanely skilled at magic, and, like his "siblings", pioneered a new form of magic: summoning. The Quill was a vital part of this practice, said to have been Diocletian's utensil of choice when writing his notes, as well as actually being used as his focus when he cast spells, as he supposedly made a habit of writing his spells in the air in order to focus his Intent. As a result, the Quill became enchanted by proxy, having soaked in so much Cosmic Energy as to obtain power of its own.
It is that power that makes the Quill so sought after. According to the legends that surround it, it is capable of Soulbinding. When two or more individuals write a contract with the Quill and apply their blood, the contract becomes a magical artifact unto itself. This artifact binds the Soul or Spirit so that, if the contract is broken, the offending party is killed, having had their essence removed from their vessel.
Also, possibly more importantly, the contract becomes a conduit not unlike the Gates found in the mortal Soul, allowing the Intent placed upon it at the time of writing to be enacted each time a droplet of blood touches the page. This has nearly infinite uses, but, as far as Diocletian's own work, it was supposed to have been used to forge pacts between him and multiple cosmic beings, allowing him to summon them to the mortal world without needing to use his gate.
