Dhamphyr

Dhamphyr are the result of a mortal and Vampire procreating. However, this can only be achieved within a very specific window. The Vampire must have gotten through their feral stage, but not yet made it to their Undead stage. This means that there is a roughly two year long period wherein a Dhamphyr can be conceived.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They have roughly Human proportions for the most part, but their mortal parent may lend something else ot the mix that will alter that shape.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dhamphyr are, unlike their immortal counterparts, not limited in their ability to reproduce. They do, however, have very quick gestation periods - only seven month pregnancies. They also do not have the ability to artificially reproduce, i.e. turn others.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dhamphyrs grow rapidly, but only physically. They have adult bodies and functions by the age of seven, but don't catch up mentally until they are roughly three times that age.   As for actual developmental stages, they have three: infancy, adolescence, and maturity. The first, Infancy, is that first seven years of life. During Infancy, they are actually capable of infecting others with Vampilia, so caution must be taken. In Adolescence, they will have reached physical maturity, but will not yet be fully developed. Once they are roughly twenty, they will have grown fully and have reached the Maturity stage.

Ecology and Habitats

Places that receive little sun are ideal for the Dhamphyr. Though the sun won't kill them, their skin burns far easier than most, so they try to avoid sun exposure when possible.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Alas, one of the things Dhamphyr inherited from their kin is the need to drink blood or consume raw meat. Many will simply eat the meat their peers are having, but uncooked. This is especially doable for them, as they only need to have one complete meal in a given day. However, for those that lack access to bloody meat (it needs to actually have blood in it) there is the Ichor Fruit. An oddity in the plant world, the vaguely gold-colored liquid inside Ichor Fruits satisfies the need for blood. This is especially good because it has a shelf life of over a month, versus the day or so that a slice of meat lasts.   Aside from the need to consume one meal of blood, Dhamphyr are able to eat normal food.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

They will often have narrow features, but that can be affected greatly by their parentage. For example, a half-Dwarf Dhamphyr will have a slightly wider face and nose, and a rounder chin. On the other hand, a half-Elf will only add a soft fairness to the already narrow features.   Beyond general face shape, Dhamphyr have small, pointed ears, fangs, and luminescent eyes.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

They are mostly found on the Olígan Continent - primarily Kalastrad - but there are many that have traveled to other areas. As a result of their preference for less heat and sun, they've largely steered clear of Havan or Antioch, and certainly Erimas, but they have flocked to Baliklav.

Average Intelligence

They tend to be quite intelligent, and learn quickly. They don't have quite the same aptitude as a Vampire, but they certainly inherited their propensity for study. This is also helped by the cultural bend to spend a lot of time indoors, and thus studying is a common way to pass the time.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Dhamphyr have amazing senses. Their hearing and sight are matched by few, and they can smell blood like no other, making them excellent Seekers.

Average Physique
They are generally thin, as they tend not to eat significant amounts of food. However, they aren't "scrawny". Rather, they tend to lack muscle definition. This also means they aren't particularly strong, as they don't have the supernatural enhancements of their kin.   This is very much a matter of average, as an individual can choose to eat more and build more body mass. Though, it should be said that they have a relatively low upper limit on body mass, result in more of a cut physique than a lot of bulk muscle. They will never be able to look like an Orc.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Their general coloration is pale, or ashen. Whatever the skin color of their mortal parent, they will share in that, but with a less vibrant hue. It's as if there were a thin layer of ash on their skin, lending a slight gray or white to their otherwise "normal" skin.
