Vampilia

Vampilia is a horrendous affliction caused by the bites of feral Vampires or infant Dhamphyr. Unlike the bite of a Lycan, this will not result in the turning of the afflicted.    In both cases, the best course of action is to avoid contact. An infant Dhamphyr will only bite when hungry, as they have yet to properly control their instincts, but their physicality makes fending them off difficult. In the case of the feral Vampire, their sheer ferocity is a concern. The larger issue is the potential for regression; even a fully realized Vampire can revert to a feral state if they are blood-starved enough. It is those situations that are the most tenuous, as they combine the ferocity of a  feral Vampire with the power of a fully realized one.

Transmission & Vectors

Vampilia is exclusively transmitted by the bites of feral Vampires or infant Dhamphyr. There is no danger to being in the vicinity of someone infected with the disease, or even eating after them. However, if they were to bite you - drawing blood - there is the potential for infection. That likelihood is less than a coin toss, but care should still be taken. It should be said that there is no compulsion to bite, simply the possibility they will choose to do so.   In theory, were the saliva gathered, it could be put in the bloodstream by other means.

Causes

The affliction is caused by the saliva of an undernourished member of the Sangus grouping entering the bloodstream. This saliva then begins to break down the body, resulting in the disease itself. In essence, the saliva propagates in the body and begins digesting it.

Symptoms

The number one symptom is extreme hemorrhaging. As a result of the internal and external bleeding, a cough will set in pretty quickly. The cough will largely yield nothing but blood, and may actually exacerbate the issue. There is also a necrosis of the wound site. Eventually, there will be total organ failure.

Treatment

The only known treatment is Yarrow and Witch Hazel. If the patient is very lucky, they'll be able to pull through. Avoid tinctures at all costs, as the alcohol will thin the blood and make the bleeding worse.

Prognosis

The prognosis is pretty grim. Contracting it is a nigh guarantee of death.

Sequela

Assuming the afflicted is able to survive the initial disease, they will have a chronic cough for the rest of their life. They will also fatigue and bruise easily, and likely be all but bedridden.
