Fides Theorem

The Fides Theorem states that magic is a manifestation of our belief in magic, and subsequently, for stronger magic, the more people and the stronger the belief that is required. This theory was first proposed after observation of the Kuo-Toa, which appear to possess the ability to create near-divine magic solely from their belief. Expanding this to the entire world, weaker versions of this magic may be possible, due to the weaker psionic capabilities of humans, elf, dwarves, etc.
This effect has also been noted with Totems, which appear to become more powerful with their domain.
Proponents of this theory believe that psionics are the building blocks of magic, and many studies have been completed to determine the psionic potential of the average citizen.
