Variant Society of Zekosh Organization in World of Stendaaris | World Anvil

Variant Society of Zekosh

Overview

A group of elves, gnomes, goblins, and humans are tempted to create their own life forms. In doing so, they created a society based on mutations and the magic around making adaptations around these mutations. This magic was named Zeko Magic by a great wizard and explorer. In testing and learning about these mutant adaptations, a few things arose. First, those that underwent transformations could no longer reproduce with their origin species but only others that have also experienced these mutations. This led to two new species evolving from the descendants of this society, the Zeko and Zeki. When referring to the culture tied to the Variant Society, it's standard to call them Zekoshi.

Structure

The Variant Society of Zekosh was founded by a great researcher named Lenord Gaff Zekkin. He was the first scientific explorer sent to the Continent of Vinciral from the Kingdom of Kragos. In search of great scientific discoveries. He was the organization's first Expert Examiner. The rest of his team consisted of Select Examiners and other skilled and unskilled workers.   The Expert Examiner provides plans and research ideas to the Select Examiners. Those Select Examiners will then assign the work that needs to be done to the skilled workers. The skilled workers then work with the unskilled workers to acquire the various elements required to complete the many research ideas and plans of Lenord Gaff Zekkin. This method is still used within society and other aspects of Zekoshi culture.

Public Agenda

The Kingdom of Kragos instilled the society with the following charges. First, seek out any kin that was sent out on previous expeditions. Secondly, seek information on how to get past the mists and Impassable Mountains. Thirdly, try and find any and everything about new flora and fauna, so the Kingdom of Kragos could harness any potential power from it.   Lenord Gaff Zekkin had the fourth agenda, a more private agenda from Kingdom of Kragos. He wanted to study flora and fauna, but he wanted to learn ways of keeping things alive in a suspended, animated state. While in this state to examine and review recovery times of various killing effects. In short, he sought a way to immortality on a scientific approach, not magical. However, in his attempts to discover a natural form of immortality, the Variant Society started to evolve.

Assets

The settlement of Zekosh is one of the Varient Society of Zekosh's most significant assets. The next largest asset is their vast library of Zeko Magic and how to properly graft hybrid mutations on oneself or other creatures. Finally, the only other asset would be the knowledge of traveling via the Nightmare Lands without falling victim to the vapors.

History

The Variant Society of Zekosh started as a science & investigative expedition with Lenord Gaff Zekkin in charge. He and the society found a vast land rich with color and dangerous vapors. They named it the Nightmare Lands because of how hazardous the vapors were to them. In time Lenord Gaff Zekkin and the rest of his scientists discovered how to utilize the vapors for more medical purposes.   From discovering the medical purposes of the dangerous vapors, society learned more about body modifications. For example, using the vapors from the Nightmare Lands, they could suspend pain on a body part and graft it onto another creature. In doing so, they developed various rituals of how to acquire the vapors and tame the creatures nearby to adapt to the new modifications.   In time society created mutations across the Nightmare Lands. This created a prime location for various entities outside these lands to come and hunt; thus, they renamed the Harvesters Paradise. However, the creatures they mutated were not the only things that underwent a mutation. The society members mutated into what is made up of the Zekoshi.

Disbandment

The organization never really dissolved or dispanded; it just became a society. However, the organization's leadership structure is seen in all aspects of Zekoshi culture.

The need to evolve is significantly undervalued.
