Grung

Grung are froglike humanoids that typically live along a body of water on the Continent of Renstrom. They are territorial and see themselves superior in their focused skills. This causes them to have numberous rivals and companions to challenge to become better. Even though they are territorial they never show agreession or hostilitiy to visitors. If you betray their hospitality then they will show agression.

age:
Grungs mature to adulthood in a single year, but have been known to live up to 50 years.
alignment:
Most grungs are lawful, having been raised in a strict caste system. They tend toward evil as well, coming from a culture where social advancement occurs rarely, and most often because another member of your army has died and there is no one else of that caste to fill the vacancy.
Size: Small
speed:
You have a walking speed of 25 feet. Your sticky finger and toe pads give you a climb speed of 25 feet.
Languages: Common Grung
race features:
Arboreal Alertness. - You have proficiency in the Perception skill.
Amphibious. You can breathe air and water.
Poison Immunity. You are immune to poison damage and the poisoned condition.
Poisonous Skin. Any creature that grapples you or otherwise comes into direct contact with your skin must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or become poisoned for 1 minute. A poisoned creature no longer in direct contact with you can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
You can also apply this poison to any piercing weapon as part of an attack with that weapon, though when you hit the poison reacts differently. The target must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or take 2d4 poison damage.
Standing Leap. Your long jump is up to 25 feet and your high jump is up to 15 feet, with or without a running start.
Water Dependency. If you fail to immerse yourself in water for at least 1 hour during a day, you suffer 1 level of exhaustion at the end of that day. You can recover from this exhaustion only through magic or by immersing yourself in water for at least 1 hour.
   
Grung live in a caste system, where each caste lays eggs in various nests or hatching pools similar to their current caste. Once of age to join the rest of their caste they appear to be this sickly gray green color. As a grung ages their color changes to match their caste. From the lowest to highest, green, blue, red, orange, or gold.

Social Structure

The grung caste system is very unique. Grung will only breed and mate with grung of their caste. However their offspring could become a different caste than its parents. After birth all grung are sent to a more appropriate caste living location. With that being the case grung grow up in a community of their fellow caste colorings. The caste structure is usually led by the Grung Clan's Orange/Golden Grung. With all other grung following orders.   The Grung of Renstrom have seperated themselves into various Grung Clans. The clan that can produce the the most powerful grung they will then receive the honor of being the highest caste of the clans. The winning Grung Clan gets to host the next clan rumble and rule over the other clans similarly like the golden grung rules over their verious clans.   The Grung of Vincrial are of one Clan. They live among the various islands to the southwest of the continent. Each caste coloring of grung live on their own seperate but close island. Each island has a represenative with a golden tatoo that reports directly to the Golden Grung.

Domestication

There is a relic from the Continent of Vincrial that showed up sometime before the Vow Tangible. It was some sort of belt that allowed the wearer to summon a Grung companion to their aid. It also allowed the wearer to speak the Grung language. Many years this belt was worn by a just soul until if was lost. It was finaly found and worn and unfortanatly exploited by an Axel Nightfall Greywing. The only Grung summoned from this where grung from the Continent of Vincrial.

When grun organize they form a Grung Clans. There are a vew clans on the Continent of Renstrom and there is only one clan on the Continent of Vincrial.

History

These grung haven't always lived on the Continent of Renstrom. They started to settle and show up along the shores near the Impassable Mountains. The only Grung Clans that stayed at the original grung inhabitation area were the Storm Callers Clan. The grung were able to freely pass the coasts of the Impassable Mountains after a ship crashed on the wrong side of the coast line. This set off the very first omen of the Vow Tangible. This ship had inhabitants of Renstrom that were never to set foot on the west side of the Continent of Vincrial. This is also were the original caste of grung live.   The grung of the Continent of Vincrial live on the souther isles and tend to roam the coast lines but will never traverse a river. It was said that a large number of grung ages ago went up a river on the west side of the Impassable Mountains and never returned. In realality those grung became the inahbitants of the Continent of Renstrom.

The Grung from Continent of Vincrial traveled Continent of Renstrom.

1 to 50 years
Conservation Status
There was a decree from The Achademy of Thorn'Adan to not hunt or kill a newly discovered sentient species. This allowed the Grung to grow rapidly and thrive on the Continent of Renstrom.

2 ½ and 3 ½ feet tall
Average Weight
average about 30 pounds.
