Qualifications

To be a copyist to anyone on the Continent of Renstrom, one has to have the written approval of all royal rulers. This means they have to have a written letter from every Kingdom in the Continent of Renstrom. They must bring these letters to the Grand Hall of History and file an application with the Bookbinders Guild. This allows you to start work as a novice copyist and work under Zdala Gorunn.

Career Progression

To fully become a copyist and have gone letters of approval. That opens one up to be a novice copyist. A novice copyist has to learn everything they can about books and their bindings. This means they have to intern in local Specialty binding shops. These shops craft custom books for those willing to provide the materials to make them. In creating these books, the copyists' job is to procure 1st edition copies of the finished document. This means the novice learner has to copy their first works while producing specialty-bound books for the client.   Once they have mastered the craft of specialty bindings. They are then required to serve at the hand of any Royal person who requests the copyists' services. Before they work for that Royal person, they must provide the approved recommendation letter from the rulers of the Royal's locations. This is done to prevent unsolicited forged documents. This also allows the copyist access to select secret royal documents to put in special rooms within the halls of the Grand Hall of History.   The last job progression is to be a preserver of history. So when asked to provide aid to royals, they must also preserve history whenever possible. This means they must participate in journalist activities and provide first-hand experiences in the history archives.

One of this profession's major benefits is gaining the trust of all kingdoms as a trusting person. However, you have also pledged to never be involved in political matters. You are strictly there to preserve history by any means necessary. A copyist is provided with food and lodging and pay of 4 gp per day when not copying resources and 10 gp per day when copying resources. If working for a kingdom, they would be paying 14 gp per day to cover room and board.
