Arcane/Ethereal Radiation and Consumption
In the Metatextual sense, the Arcane/Ethereal Energy shares similarities with the the spectrum of light/energy existent in the natural world.
Considered scientifically: Each creature is composed of three main parts. The Soul, The Mind, and The Body. These are obvious in their naming, and largely in their usage.
The Body is the physical form and frame of the creature, this also has points that act as natural focus points to absorb or dispel magic with the assistance of The Mind & The Soul. The Physical forms has a variety of different features and each individual or species have minor variances among them.
The Mind is the creature, its personality, its memories, its intentions. The intentions and understanding of the world around the creature affect their very nature, and it is with the Intention given by The Mind that allows individuals to channel the ethereal energy into creating/forming "spells" or preform feats of "magic".
The Soul is the final and most important piece of the machine, it acts as the first creation point for each Creature. The Soul is the massing of Ethereal Energy that first forms the creature and helps shape its abilities. The Energy within the Soul is separated between active and inactive forms.
Birth of the Scalise tells the tale of early tribes attempting communicate with Early Dragons, resulting in the creation of the Dragonborn/Scalise and offered the peoples knowledge on how to preform magic. With the aid of Scalise, the early peoples were able to put up a resistance against the dangers and creatures of the world that surrounds them.
The original explosion that formed the entirety of the universe released a strange form of permanently expanding and existing radiation, its abilities and purpose are still widely debated but the widest known understanding is that this energy that permeates throughout all of the worlds is what grants each creature life and lets them preform Feats of magic.

Each creature has access to using Arcane energy, effectively casting spells, but the strengths and talents of magic are as any other talent. Most can preform it generally, some can preform it fundamentally, less can perform it creatively with talent, and only a few can preform it professionally. The Arcane Consortium lends its aid at all times in the upbringing of individuals with inherent skill and talent.
The Capacity of a Creatures Soul is traditionally a controlled and stable amount, limited in ones early age and effected by their surroundings, but with severe exposures to energy or willful subjection to dangerous amounts the capacity can be increase. Less intense methods exist to help naturally increase the limit, but the outcomes are far limited in their extent. Warrior Arcanists or Arcanists of some repute will often carry gems containing large amounts of Ethereal energy to draw from, or will use magically infused items to throttle their powers usage.
