Brannagan's Ferry

At the end of the road from Hillsboro sits a small cluster of buildings. Here lives Horan Brannagan with his wife and 2 children. Horan makes a good living on the merchant traffic that comes through the Korlon Hills. His is the only place to cross the Red River, which forces larger caravans to detour around the hills through the city of Marston.
Brannagan charges 5 sp per crossing, and his ferry can only take one wagon at a time. The Red River narrows to about 200 yards across here, and it takes about 6 minutes to make each crossing. Other than that, the family has a small farm and makes the 14 mile trip to Hillsboro a few times a week.
Brannagan doesn't get accosted by bandits, and most bandit groups actively protect the ferry. Without the ferry, traffic through the Korlon Hills would dry up, and so would their livelihood.
