The Light-Seekers or Seekers of Light
The Light-Seekers is the team of adventurers who work out of The Ancient Sorcerer’s Athenaeum for Bibliotheca Knowledge Enterprise, the corporate name for the secret organization. Many of them are incorrectly known as Librarians but their job is to collect dangerous or powerful (or both) relics from various places to ensure another group called The Power of Darkness Brotherhood does not.
Both groups have been at war since the Library of Alexandria (The Original and First Library) many centuries ago.
You might ask why. The Light-Seekers (AKA The Librarians) wish only to increase their knowledge and use the relics for the betterment of mankind.
However, The Power of Darkness Brotherhood wants to use Magic and these items for nefarious purposes.
Support staff are around but Seekers of Light outnumber them.
Those who work at the Library (Librarians, Guardians, Caretakers and Custodians) become infused by the magic of the Library, and they take that into the world with them. If the connection is severed, humanity will be cut adrift from learning, curiosity, investigation, knowledge, and wisdom.
Likewise, belief in Ancient Power is also important. It is tied to that belief whenever AEP comes back. That means this place is tied to AEP as well as wisdom and knowledge and the curiosity that comes with it.
It is dependent upon the mortals who have belief that this place maintains a physical presence. If that belief is destroyed or otherwise broken, the Library ceases to exist.
True Seekers of Light and their Protectors operate in secret when in the mortal world until after 2020.
Seekers are noble scholars and explorers. They take their job of securing and safeguarding the relics as a sacred duty for the betterment and safety of mankind. They serve in a selfless manner and do not benefit directly from the relics themselves or their knowledge about this place itself.
You might could call them curators of Light Magic Objects, magical items that belongs to people such as Earth’s Guardians of Childhood or fairytale items that aren’t well-known to people outside the spheres of the secret societies.
The Guardians are there to protect the spiritual well-being of the Seekers, rather than their continued physical existence. It is also helpful that these protectors help to fight the seductive pull of the power magic offers.
The first Librarian was called “The Scholar”. His actual name is Galdur Easton Ambrose Zinta. He was the creator of the headquarters.
But his Guardian, Faye Ginevra Moira Taika, is also ancient. Both are Eternal Overseers and Protectors of the Library. They handle diplomatic responsibilities. And were the ones adding to the collection for over many centuries. But they soon brought in others who helped either collect and recover or curate the collection.
The original Eternal Protectors gave up immortality and their status to move beyond the realm of flesh.
Since the respective passings of “The Scholar” and “The Guardian”, overall leadership of the Library passed to the Grand Light-Seeker. It soon also passed to his Guardian who took their rightful place as the Eternal Light-Seeker and Eternal Guardian in a tethering ceremony.
The Librarians are currently the majority in this group. They often undertake global-spanning adventures to recover items of power. It is then items come to be stored in the Library.
Recruitment of believers and those needed is necessary as this job is dangerous and death is inevitable! However, some people have gone to Darkness's side under false pretenses.
The recruitment happens when one Light-Seeker or one Protector die. And the way it happens is not normal. The Ancient Sorcerer’s Athenaeum is semi-alive. It has a temporal body (the physical space) and a spirtual one (the spirit of the space). It is the spirit which sends out all invitations.
It does this somehow. This is not understood and the explanation is magic.
Connection to the World of Man
