Kilglen

A Mystery

Many years ago, there was a small village nestled in a glen in the Rannoc foothills. There was nothing particularly special about the village or the people who lived there. It produced some pretty decent honey, and there was a woman there who won the "Most Intricate Needlework Design" award every year at the local crafts fair, but other than that, it was a pretty quiet and ordinary place.   It rocketed to fame about eighty four years ago however, when it completely vanished overnight without a trace, along with all who were in the village at the time. Neither the village nor any of its inahbitants have ever been seen or heard from since. It is still one of the biggest mysteries in the Valley, and many adventurers, wizards and learned folk have tried, without success, to solve it.
My Pa had sent me to fetch some nails from the blacksmith. When I got there I could scarce believe my eyes, where the village had once stood was naught but a bare patch of soil and rock. Not even a single blade of grass was left. I had to drag my Pa back with me before he would believe me.

The Mystery Grows

Twelve years ago the explorer and travel writer, Jerotus Rosethorn, was able to solve at least part of the puzzle, but his discovery threw up even more questions. Not long after he had found the strange Airship, Jerotus set of on an extended journey to the Cloud Isles. When he returned he brought back with him an incredible tale. He had found the missing village of Kilglen on one of the islands, though sadly he found no trace of its occupants, nor had he been able to figure out how the village got there.
It was quite remarkable, it was as if the village had simply been gently placed down there. My first clue as to its identity was the name on the tavern sign, and the second was all the needlework awards in the village hall.
