22nd Skye Rangers
Overview
As a division of the Skye Rangers, the Twenty-Second is largely regarded by the rest of the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces as fairly reliable, if a little inexperienced as a whole. The group which arrived to take command of the Sanglamore Training Battalion is comprised of seasoned veterans loyal to the Archon and willing to do what is necessary to secure White Reach against any and all invading forces. Kommandant Emile Harvey personally had taken charge with a significant grudge against mercenary outfits in particular.White Reach Operations
After the disastrous experiences of the Sanglamore trainees, and the death of Kommandant Valdane, Kommandant Harvey made the decision to absorb the remnants of the training battalion into his unit. Having arrived with a Lance of BattleMechs and two extra WLF-1 Wolfhounds, a pair of Sturmfeur Heavy Tanks, and more combat experience. As such, they quickly reorganized into three separate Companies who deployed against the Harbingers' only base of operations. One such Company cut off access to Holfield Mining, while another set up Thumper artillery guns within range of Calderon Base.Despite these actions, the Harbingers were able to overpower the Rangers and turn the tide. After realizing time was not on his side, Kommandant Harvey made a feint to draw off the bulk of the Harbingers' forces. Once they moved, the Kommandant led an assault on Calderon Base and the defenders left there. Despite a good attempt at timing, Kommandant Harvey's plan fell apart as the Harbingers were able to retreat from the other engagement in time to reinforce the defenders. In the end, he met the same fate as Kommandant Valdane: the head of his 'Mech obliterated by the autocannon of an Atlas.
Following the loss of command, many of the Twenty-Second chose to join the Harbingers' forces for the time being rather than return in shame. Those who did not join retreated and left the planet to return to their home posting, covering for those who remained behind by reporting them as "captured". Shortly after the Harbingers left White Reach, many of the personnel turned up with varied stories as to what exactly happened to delay them.
