Harridan

Harridan is a goblin woman and expert administrator. She is a loyal secretary to Cool Jazz.
Cool Jazz himself has said that he would not be able to function without his assistant, who has worked for him for over 30 years, and Harridan is pleased to be known as the power behind the throne, controlling access to the exceedingly rich half-elf.
As the custodian of her employer's secrets and the organisation of his business empire, she is probably the most powerful goblin anywhere in the world.

Personal history

Harridan is something of a leader within the Goblin community. She campaigned in the 710s for civil rights for goblins, and even stood for political office. In 711, she lost the election for Constable of Marches by one vote. Many years later, she would discover that the vote had been rigged in favour of her opponent, the incumbent.
As a serious goblin of considerable intelligence, she would find it difficult to get a position that allowed her to use her skills, most goblins being employed as labourers, crash test dummies and entertainers. It was Cool Jazz, a half-elven wizard with progressive views who first appreciated her talents and immediately hired her as a personal secretary.
Harridan is fiercely loyal to her employer, and in gratitude for his consideration of her talents, has become indispensable to him. According to Cool Jazz's annual tax returns before he started working with Malmeck Industries, she was drawing 1500GP a year, which was 3 times the average human salary for Westlo.

Education

Like many goblins, Harridan has had little formal education. She has been able to learn a little elvish as well as common and goblin. She delights in puzzles and likes to reason out things once she has all the information. Her one failing, if it indeed could be called that, is a lack of imagination. Apart from that, she acquires knowledge effortlessly and is ready to adapt to new technologies.

Morality & Philosophy

Harridan believes above all in loyalty and in repaying good deeds. She dislikes being indebted and will go out of her way to pay back more than she owes.
Deep down, she is still the firebrand she was in her youth, and passionately believes in goblin emancipation. The fact that most goblins are not aware of a goblin emancipation movement pains her.
It would be going too far to say that Harridan is anti-human, but she does despise the cruelty inherent in humanfolk, and in particular hates the secret ritual around The Big Market. The fact that goblinkind also bear the same basic and primal cruelty is not lost on her.

The Heroes first encountered Harridan as the school administrator at Malmeck's School for Adventurers. They met her again in Marches, as part of their adventure at The Big Market.
