Nereid Class Starship

The first line of inter-planetary ships commissioned by The People Of Earth utilizing an Einstein Mass Conversion Core. These ships are designed to ferry a couple thousand passengers and light cargo between planets in the Sol system.   Their colossal size necessitates being constructed in space, and it can be a time consuming endeavor, even with thousands of robots working around the clock on the construction.

Power Generation

The electron surplus from the Einstein Mass Conversion Core is harnessed to provide power for on-ship systems. There is ample energy for VR theaters, heated pools, etc.

Propulsion

The bulk of the energy released from the Einstein Mass Conversion Core comes in the form of a massive explosive force during proton/neutron disolution, which is channeled through thrusters to propel the ship.

Weapons & Armament

The Nereids are luxury transport ships, and are accordingly not equipped with offensive armaments.

Armor and defense

Nereid Class ships have thousands of high powered lasers covering the exterior intended to prevent space debris from hitting the ship.

Communication Tools & Systems

Ships maintains an extremely high bandwidth tight-beam light-speed data connection to both Earth and Venus. The latency makes this inadequate for real-time communication and multiplayer video games, but it's more than adequate for content streaming.   Additionally, there is plentiful quantum bandwidth available for instantaneous communicaton to both Earth and Venus. The quantum links are replenished on each docking.

Sensors

The exterior of the ship is densely covered in multi-spectral cameras, along with mid- and long-range lidar arrays, providing a high resolution 3D model of the ship's surroundings, with a radius of about 0.1AU before the resolution becomes too low to be useful.

Additional & auxiliary systems

The ship has enough compressed gases to provide breathing air for the fairly short trip between Earth and Venus. However, there are also many living plants on board, and whole decks of dense vegetation that handle recycling the air, and it is rare that the ship has to dip into its compressed reserves.   All Nereid-class ships have a living permaculture food forest spanning multiple decks of the ship that produces much of the air and food required for the journey.   All Nereid-class ships have a fully automatic robotic room service kitchen capable of producing 2000 meals an hour at peak output.

Hangars & docked vessels

The Nereid design spec requires all passenger cabins to function as self-sufficient life pods in an emergency. In the unlikely event that the ship should suffer catestrophic failure, each passenger cabin will be fired via magnetic rail gun in the direction of the nearest friendly port. The cabin has a small assortment of ion thrusters that it can use to fine-tune its trajectory and ensure successful arrival.
