Moonlit Grove
Gwylla’s shop, located near Fala’s apothecary in Trollskull Alley, appears from the outside as an unassuming ebony shed tucked against the buildings. The dark wood is smooth and polished, giving it a slightly reflective sheen. On the door glows a golden emblem of a crescent moon delicately resting on the threads of a loom, an intricate symbol of fate and time woven together.
Interior Space
Upon crossing the threshold, all sense of urban Waterdeep vanishes. The small shed melts away, revealing a vast, moonlit grove. Above, a sky filled with brilliant stars stretches endlessly, their constellations vivid and sharp, as though painted just moments before. The moon looms impossibly large and close, casting a silver-blue light over the entire grove. Fireflies drift lazily through the air, their soft golden lights blinking and swirling in hypnotic patterns. The air is cool and serene, filled with the gentle hum of nature and the calming fragrances of lavender and lilac. It feels as though time itself pauses within this magical space. Where a rear wall should be, visitors see a grand ebony tree with bark that shimmers like polished stone. A single doorknob grows from the trunk, a seamless part of the tree, offering a way back to the material world. In the center of the grove, a small campfire burns with an ethereal purple flame. Its light casts soft shadows that flicker across the clearing. Encircling the fire are large stones shaped vaguely like chairs, always the perfect size and contour for each visitor, padded in soft moss and radiating gentle warmth.Function and Use
The Moonlit Grove is where Gwylla performs her rituals, offers cryptic and costly fate readings, and occasionally requests aid from trusted visitors. Among her requests is the retrieval of Lunarcress Blossoms, delicate, silver-petaled flowers that grow only in the Feywild and are essential for her divination rituals. These blossoms glow faintly, their light pulsing like a quiet breath. Deep within the grove is another tree, distinct from the ebony one, that acts as a portal to the Feywild. This tree, unlike any found on the Sword Coast or even in wider Faerûn, has a doorknob of its own and opens to a mapped and guided path through the alien beauty of the Feywild.Current Resident
When the party returned from one such journey, they brought with them a wounded alseid named Platus, who had been injured while closing a blighted rift in the Feywild. Gwylla tended to his wounds and purged the poison from his body with magic. Though fully recovered, Platus has chosen to remain in the grove, finding peace and purpose within its quiet sanctity.Divination Ritual
When performing a fortune reading, Gwylla grinds a Lunarcress petal in a mortar, adds it to a kettle over the purple flame, and recites a Celestial incantation. As the querent drinks the infused tea, steam swirls around them, forming a sphere of fog illuminated by titanic constellations drifting overhead. Gwylla instructs them to pluck a light from the sky, which transforms into a spider-like creature made of nebula essence. As it spins threads between her fingers, her eyes begin to glow faintly, and she delivers a prophecy shaped by the threads of fate.Atmosphere
Within this grove, time feels slowed, as though suspended. It is a place of quiet reflection, mystery, and grace, a sanctuary woven between the threads of fate, where constellations speak and choices echo far beyond the moment they are made.
