The Strangest Deer

Found in the far reaches Icy Shores, one of the most northern regions on Plenumia. These animals are a rare sight on the glaciers and mountains of the area.

Basic Information

Anatomy

These animals are characterized by their singular eye, beak-like mouth, thick fur, and powerful hind legs. Dissection has revealed that these animals have a reinforced spine, and extensive musculature in their two back legs, with their forelimbs being incredibly weak. The brain of the animal is severely underdeveloped with most of the skull dedicated to its large singular eye.
It didn't take long for hunters to learn the animal is inedible by awoken, the meat causing nausea in a similar manner to Tree-Splitter meat.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The animals are herbivores, eating flowers and grass found on the sharp mountains and eating chunks of ice from the glaciers of Icy Shores. They are often seen bounding up tall structures and standing on very small points often considered impassable. Often staying in large herds that travel together.
These animals will often build large layers by eating cave systems into glaciers and snowbanks. Here these animals will take much of the plant mass that they eat and vomit them out, covering them in glue-like preservative spit, then compressing the plant matter into large bails. These stores of food are reserved for their young, which hatch from large leathery eggs. At all times, half of the herd remains inside the layer to defend it from predators.
