Revenant Shark

Emerging from deep in the depths of the Deepest waters of Voltera nobody knows for sure but some speculate that Revenant Sharks came from other planes when gates open up near or in the Great Maelstrom. Others speculate that they where enchanted to life by dark powerful Necrotic Magics.   Many Sailors tell tales of these Great Revenant Sharks attacking and consuming whole ships and even small fleets of ships or pods of killer whales as they ply the waters near the Great Maelstrom.   Revenant Sharks are one of the few creatures that has the power to actually swim through the Great Maelstrom they are great hunting machines basically that do not feed often but when they are their attack is relentless.   Revenant sharks seem attracted to Living things they sense the living and home in on larger groupings of living things when it becomes hungry. Revenant Sharks typically feed only once or twice monthly when they do eat they are quite ravenous typical meals will consist of a few killer whales or several dolphins from a pod or perhaps a larger sperm, gray, or humpback whale. They are not above attacking shipping such a large galleons, or fishing or trade fleets where there is an abundance of humanoid morsels but they tend to not notice smaller or tiny vessels.   Revenant Sharks although undead need to feed Legends have said that their consumption of living things send the souls of creatures eaten back to their plane and provide the necessary energy to remain in their undead state on the Material world.   Legends also say that Revenant Sharks only come to this world for specific reasons being called by the gods themselves, a powerful Mages or Lich or possibly a demon or devil. Tasked to hunt down and devour souls or take revenge on a specific target. In any case an encounter with one is quite harrowing.   The First time a Revenant Shark Comes in site breaching the waves those encountering it will feel the cold chill in the air, the very hairs on your body will stand on end as the chills make their way to your bones and the strong stench of death will fill the air those faint of heart or stomach may freeze in fear or become sick over the powerful stench.   It is rumored that the Revenant Shark can communicate telepathically and has an understanding of the Abyssal language. It does not speak and rarely does it communicate with its prey.
