Moons Of Voltera

Probably the Most Noticeable objects in the sky above Voltera are its two moons Epscillon and Scyleah they are by far the most prominent astrological bodies before the Stars and the Constellations that are only seen in the nighttime.   Epscillon and Scyleah are considered the Keepers of time on Voltera. The Story varies from culture to culture but it is that the gods created these moons for this reason Human's attribute their creation to Selune and Elves attribute it to Sehanine Moonbow just to name a couple. Voltera's many astrological and religious scholars and followers agree that the two Moons are in fact used to keep track of time.   Epscillon is a massive pale green moon at times when it is closest it can take up what seems to be 1/10th to 1/8th off the Sky. Its rotations are slow and almost unnoticeable to the naked eye it completes an orbital cycle from Full moon, to Quarter moon, to New Moon, to Waning Quarter back to Full Moon every 29 Days. For every 13 Rotations Epscillon Completes a year consisting of 377 days meaning that the moon shift to the four named cycles roughly 7.25 days roughly indicating the weeks of which there are 4 in a week and 13 months in a year on Voltera. When Epscillon is its largest in the Sky it is said that the Great Maelstrom on Voltera is at its largest and most turbulent time this is in the 13th month. When Epscillon is full even humans can see pretty well in the night and it considered the most blessed week in some cultures. When it is the Furthest away from Voltera the Great Maelstrom is at its weakest and winds all across Voltera seem to be weaker too this happens in the 6th month or rotation and is often referred to as Epscillon's Doldrums or the Summer Doldrums. Epscillon is considered to be the home of the Moon gods to many cultures and often is called the "Mother" or "Mother Moon". The Moon is brilliant in the night but even can be prominent in the daylight sky.   Scyleah is a tiny moon that races across the sky its position in the sky marks the hours in a day of which there are 24 in a day depending on the month determines its position in the sky often passing above Epscillon in front of eclipsing Epscillon or below Epscillon. It takes three hours for the little Moon Scyleah to pass from one end of Epsilon to the other in some cultures these hours have religious or astronomical significance and some try to time rituals or activities of times when Scyleah eclipses Epscillon. Scyleah depending on the Month of the year passes behind Epscillon and later months passes in front of Epscillon. This tiny moon is like a small Gray ball racing across the sky and it is literally like a single nail head against the backdrop of like a large Round shield that is Epscillon hence it has gotten its other name the "child". Scyleah is the fastest moving object in the night sky and can even be seen in the daylight on its race to chase down another day and wistfully playing around her mother.
