Overview

The Library of Archived Records has been rebuilt and renovated more often than the office that uses it has been renamed. It's a building that is constantly updated with the latest security measures and advances in security, trying to stay ahead of the curve so that its sensitive data is not easily tampered with. Though a significant portion of it has been converted over to server rooms and digital offices, there is entire floors dedicated to paper records that are far more precious. These old books do not see natural light and require a wealth of special permissions to even access, let alone special clearances to even handle. The Library is under the jurisdiction of the Board of Genetics and Shra Integrity : B.G.S.I. and functions as their main office.

Office Location

Glam, Sakilatian Empire

Ruler / Owner

Officially owned by the B.G.S.I. and functions as a governmental body, beholden to no particular family.

Purpose

To serve as the storage and home office for the B.G.S.I. and all of the pertinent familial and ancestral records the office is responsible for. It acts as the authority and official geneology tracker for the vnou populace, settling claim disputes.

Employees

The Library is staffed by B.G.S.I. officers and private security paid for by a handful of the wealthiest families on all of vnou. These security companies, though they are bought and paid for by particular names, do not have any special access to the actual record rooms. There are only a handful of vnou that actually have access to the physical records. The same can be said for the server rooms and offices. Rather, the security is all about keeping out just about everyone that isn't qualified to access the building. The Library is one of the most secure buildings on the planet.

Design

For all its importance, the structure of the building itself is simplistic and beautiful. Glass, white stone, and bright light ensure there are no dark corners for anyone to hide. Open offices and glass walls for the few that exist destroy any sense of privacy - because there really isn't any. There isn't meant to be any. Rather, the Library is meant to be a depository for records while being easy to secure. This means enabling security to look in on record and server rooms without actually having to access the space unless absolutely necessary. Wide monitors give a wealth of work space but it also enables supervisors to keep an eye on all the work that is being done on the screen. There are several access points that require badges or ID checks.

Public Appearance

The Library looks like a lot of the other tall governmental buildings in the area, which affords it some added security. The vast majority of the public want nothing to do with the monolithic building as it represents nothing but a waste of time. Most common vnou exposure to the B.G.S.I. is infuriating requests and repeated filings. Streamlined conversations are held through email or secured lines in the Library itself, through Representatives. Even so, getting anything done through the Library still takes time to ensure accuracy and security. Most do not understand the importance of the building or care to ever go there.
