Governmental, Inquisitorial

Formerly Curation Council, Board of Purity

Overview

The Board of Genetics and Shra Integrity has gone through many interations over the course of Vnou history but its function has always been the same: to maintain the records and verify the legitimacy of claims of the bloodlines. For the wealthiest and the most powerful in vnou society, blood relations are everything. It's titles, it's wealth, it's power. They are the true rulers of the planet so relations and Shra purity matters. As such, nearly every family of means or importance has a respresentative that works at the B.G.S.I. and they send their strongest Shra to be their representative or review frequently. This is to ensure that they cannot be fooled into accepting mistakes, errors, or or willful deceptions. The B.G.S.I. is probably the most scrutinized of the organizations, with layers and layers of paperwork in and bureaucracy revolving around getting anything done, approved, or changed. This is where all official familial records and lower Shra registration numbers are stored.
Known to the common vnou public simply as B.G.S.I. Many don't know the real breakdown of the Initialism - it's simply the place that records are sent and Shra information is stored. For them, it's not nearly as important and many will not have any more involvement with the place than the brief mail-in or filing of their Shra and/or registration number. If there is ever a question of inheritance or law-related dispute, requests are made to the B.G.S.I. for records but the service to the common vnou is a very, very small part in what they do. As such, the vast majority of vnou perceive the B.G.S.I. as a sort of ineffective, tiresome records library of sorts that no one really wants to deal with, but do so only if they absolutely must after they've done their due-diligence of filing their Shra/registration number. Requests are not a priority and can take some time to resolve, often requiring several attempts or prompts to get information to expedite the process. Not even common law enforcement wants to deal with the B.G.S.I. and will exhaust any other means of gathering information before sending a request to the Board.

Organization Structure :

Like almost everything the vnou Bloodlines put their hand to, the B.G.S.I. has several layers of bureaucracy.

  • Secretary of Genetics and Shra Integrity
    • Under Secretary of Genetics and Shra Integrity
      • Officer of the Administration
This branch of the B.G.S.I. is the one that managest the records for all of the vnou, though they are first and foremost the recordkeepers for the curated bloodlines of the wealthy and powerful. If there are any disputes when it comes to land, inheritence, wealth, or Shra, it is brought to the B.G.S.I.
        • Director of Conflicting Affairs
        • Director of Program Management
        • Director of General Counsel
This is the office that handles the common requests, law enforcement subpoenas, and other inter-governtmental concerns.
        • Director of Technology and Transfer
As the name might suggest, this portion of the Board handles the technological security and reception of information.
        • Director of Communications
        • Director of Research Services
        • Director of Quality and Review
The strongest Shra from the 'common' populace are recruited for this office. It's almost a requirement that they aren't associated with any of the families since this is the office responsible for reviewing all of the submitted documents and filing them appropriately. Their life and character are under constant scrutiny.
      • Officer of Administrative Management
This is the person who interacts with the various bloodline family's respresentatives.
        • Director of Agency Services
These are the people that bend over backwards to be as accommodating to whatever family they might be assigned to. Some others in the Board might refer to them as the babysitters.
        • Director of Geopolitical Affairs
The various representatives fall directly under this particular office.

History

The Board of Genetics and Shra Integrity has always existed in some form or fashion, at least for as long as the bloodlines have been vying for power and the concept of geneology became important to the select few vnou. For the vast majority of history, though, what they did and who they were never really mattered to the general populace. Matters of inheritance are far more casual and resolved via mediation if necessary. Not to say that there aren't common vnou that don't have a fair bit of wealth to disperse, it's just the sheer disparity between the classes makes the curated bloodlines just so much more. They own countries, move geopolitical mountains, and steer the course of the vnou future.

There have been a handful of brief, bloody conflicts over the course of the vnou history. The worst of it has largely been memory holed by the powerful vnou, but every conflict has resulted in a restructuring of the B.G.S.I. There is usually a tense period of thorough review, assaults on the Library of Archived Records, and alliances formed to preserve the history that has been retained up until now. Thus far, Zhu'Shpazh has maintained the longest recorded bloodline and enjoyed the longest reigning dynasty. Every restructuring, it has been this family that rallied others to preserve the Library of Records against any sort of Reset or what they might perceive as tampering. For the Zhu'Shpazh in particular, much of their political clout comes from their longstanding historically established family and claims.

Intrigue and Influence

The amount of scrutiny and security surrounding the B.G.S.I. would lead one to think that they were guarding something divine and precious. In a way, they are the preservers of the status quo and the messengers of what will be. Nothing is considered official until it has been run through the reviewed, notarized, and filed by the B.G.S.I. Bya aren't registered to their Dha until their number is properly filed, land doesn't shift ownership until the writ and deed has been filed in the Library of Archived Records, and wills of inheritance are stored and carried out from the office of Program Management.

As such, nearly every family of means has a stake in the security of the various offices and the Library of Archived Records in specific. Those with the most to lose tend to provide the most, so the wealthiest families are the ones who fund the entire Board outside of the salary of the actual employees. Every family is entitled to a Representative in the Office of Geopolitical Affairs - even the common vnou, though they might know this particular buried law. This gives the important families a direct line of communication to the B.G.S.I. for whatever they might need. The Office of Agency Services cater to the wealthy and powerful, mostly to keep them complacent while time passes and their requests are filed. They're the babysitters, or diplomats, of the Board.

For all the Board might affect the world, the individuals have very little freedoms or autonomy. their lives are heavily scrutinized, their lives an open book to anyone from Geopolitical Affairs. They have no secrets, no freedom to go anywhere they want or do whatever they want. Every action is monitored and guarded. While some might see this as sense of security, others recognize it for the thinly veiled threat. Should they take one step out of line, it will be used against them to ruin them. If one of the Directors or someone in their office is fired or hauled in for misconduct, it enables a family to call into question almost any work that particular person has done. These underhanded tactics have been common place in the Board's history of operations.
