Sarta
The Kingdom of Sarta
The Kingdom of Sarta was founded by immigrants of Lothen who fought for their freedom and autonomy numerous times over the years and around the many battlefields of Fork River. Sartians managed to excel in various areas, including legendary military units such as “The Statues” and Sartian archers, significant nautical power over the Siria Sea, and even able horse riders.Campaigning in Sarta
Sarta’s culture is a mixture of Lothenian traditions and elven heritage. Sarta’s cities are filled with elven minorities who have lived in Sarta since its foundation and fought for the declaration of their freedom from the Lothenian yoke. Sarta is also a popular destination for merchants and travelers, especially elves of the east and humans from the southern islands. In more recent years, large numbers of Medai have settled in the kingdom as well. The People of Sarta
Sartian people are known for their wits and intelligence. Despite the small size of their kingdom and their limited resources, they have managed to defend their lands from both Lothenian and Dragorian attacks throughout history. Sartian cunningness is known among the people of the southern kingdoms and that is why they are regarded as resourceful merchants, rogues and even pirates.Inner & Outer Conflicts
Sarta has always faced troubles in and out of its borders. Pirates have been a constant menace from the south, raiding and pillaging small villages that oversee the Siria sea, while Dragorian raids from the north often trouble their borders as well. The Dangers of Sarta
Sarta’s mainland is considered safe, apart from the occasional raids. However, Sartian brigands are known to terrorize some areas, as they seem to have formed large groups of private armies that have turned against local authorities and live in the mountains, calling themselves “brotherhoods”. These groups have endangered the peace and prosperity of the land and have been accused of atrocities against Sartian people, such as butchering villages in the most barbaric ways just to convey a message to the royal family.Sartian Customs
- A King or a Queen has the highest rank in the kingdom and is often referred to as “Stone King” or “Stone Queen”.
- Like elves, Sartian people hold great respect for nature and all living beings.
- Only women are allowed to use magic in Sarta because they resemble the Medusa, the symbol of their kingdom.
- Raising a statue for someone is considered the highest of honors.
- All men and women are trained to use bows and ride horses in combat.
- Poison is very common in Sarta and is the most common weapon to use against foes, domestic or foreign.
- Sartian soldiers wear crowns that resemble snake hair in battle.
