King Istario Whiteshield (a.k.a. The War Happy)
Istario Whiteshield was a King in Lothen that became known as the "War Happy" king. He led Lothen to numerous bloody expeditions, especially in the west, fighting against barbaric tribes and monsters that lived around the mountains of Armorgrand. Istario named this expedition the "Red Hunt" but suffered a crushing defeat in the "Battle of the Skull of the Mountain".
King Istario's reign was firm but also very cruel. He was accused of conducting violence unnecessarily, in periods of peace when Lothen thrived. His ambition and his talent for violence pushed him towards campaigns that resulted in brutal executions, deaths, and extreme violence. This had a deep impact and led to the division of his people. While some enjoyed the strict and firm style of the king, others wished for a less violent ruler, more king than a warrior. In the end, his demise was a result of his blood thirsty expeditions.
