Death of Wizards
The death of a wizard is a violent display.
Manifestation
Give the large amount of magic stored within hte wizards body it all tries to escape in a large wave of magical energy. This can reek havoc on the surrouding area. This phenomena in nature is refered to as a Magiquake
Nearly all powerful wizards during this powerful burst produce a Spector due to the large amount of magic given off during their death.
The largest ever recorded explosion had a recorded diameter just short of a mile around the spot of death of the wizard, destroying the city of Spiritset.
The effect of such an explosion in completely random, as the magic moves freely through the body of the wizard without any conscious direction. Not all effects are negative but the uncertainty makes people unlikely to want to be near a wizard upon their death.

Due to the violent and unpredicatble nature of a wizards death this has caused some cultures to outlaw wizards in cities or have robust funerary rituals for wizards related to draining ones magic.
Since the damage can by widespread many wizards will travel away from loved ones and towns when death is expected or they will have a fellow wizard nearby to siphon off the magical burst reducing its effects. Wizards often have towers or homes far away from civilization which they can retreat to when death is approaching
