The Crossroads

High up in the northern mountains of Ascor, a collection of waystones and gateways exist scattered across the steep snowy terrain and deep in the frozen caves. A place full of magic in the air and a central network of portals to various locations, some lead to Violem. Others lead to one of the many realms in the universe. The realm of Ice, Serpents, Giants and more. This abundance of natural gateways makes the terrain one of the most dangerous places in Ascor due to the uncertainty of what you might find.   Some of the earliest reports of the Crossroads date back to the Exploration Era, where travellers lost in snow storms took shelter in the caves. Only to discover three waystones in close proximity of one another. Leading to the creation of the 4th kingdom, Shenaria. As a way of protecting the continent from the threats that lay behind each gateway. Some historians believe that many creatures and monsters found across Ascor originated from the Crossroads, including the Ice Serpent, Jhenga and the legendary Roc.

Notable Events:

In the short time the crossroads has been common knowledge, it has been the centre point of a many historical events. The most notable being the sole reason for the 2nd Kingdom War of Ascor. Which saw Maraleye go against Shenaria in an attempt to gain more resources from other realms after the realm travel ban. It is also home to a festival of the Rhima, a sub species of alum with the ability to control ice and snow. During the festival they travel to the crossroads to worship a god they believe blessed them with the ability to wield the element of ice. Finally it peaked the interest of the Realm Rangers, who expanded their operations to the Kingdom of Shenaria for closer inspection, dramatically advancing their research and travels across the realms.

A lot of potential for things to happen here! Possible typo: "where travelers lost snow storms" should be "where travelers lost in snow storms..." (though I love the idea of someone losing a snow storm)
