New Halvan
Work In Progress
New Halvan, the Capital of Arison on the Western edge of the kingdom. The first city to be claimed during the 100 years of Unruling and later the centre point after the Great Kingdom War. Physical lands and stone unearthed from the overgrown wildlife that creeped across a long-forgotten civilization, making way for a brighter future. A haven for Minauran throughout the continent, or at least tries to be. No city is free from total corruption and discrimination but it has always tried. Evolved from the disgust of those who can manipulate magic to rivalry between factions and groups of individuals.
New Halvan has always had a problem with two things, the storms that ride along darkened skies and the ever-growing plant life that threatens to reclaim the city for itself. How they combat this is baked into everyday life for most, if not all the citizens. With high defaceable walls and burrowing below the dirt and stone to protect from threats of thundering storm and winds. At a more detailed level, there is a backup generator in the undercity which has the capability to produce enough fire to light the streetlamps for months and funnel in enough air if the main entrances were collapsed. Storm spires standing twcie as tall as any building or church throughout Halvan are erected to divert the lighting and aura implosions away from the population. Maintained and protected by Lightning Farmers hired by the Royal Palace. As for the reaching trees and monsters that lurk in the shadows, the city has the Taming Troops. Every city has them but the troops in Halvan are by far the most well paid and fierce protectors. Ensuring that the capital doesn’t fall is a great task that is not for the feint hearted.
Now the type of people you may come across really depends where you travel within the city. At the palace you are inevitably going to run into a member of the Royal Family, whether that’s King Pon-Dal-Vey III, his Queen or one of his five children. If you are on the over city and exposed to the elements, merchants, travellers and guards are a common sight. Not a particularly busy or bustling city, people tend to keep to themselves and get on with that they need to. Worshippers of the major religions also tread across the pavements to attend prayers at their respected churches. From the followers of the Acuran of Defence, Katash and Acuran of Nature, Hodall to the thunder deity of Ka-Ta-Gi-Da. All have their place in the city but that doesn’t mean everyone accepts them with open arms. Finally, there is the under city, made up of residents. A large population of Minauran with various Alum in between. A few sorcerers have claimed the city as home but they choose to keep that information hidden out of fear of being ran out of the city.
Maps of the city are not common but those that make the effort to do so often highlight multiple areas of interest. The Royal palace is one, that is home to the royal family and numerous meetings between the Lords of Arison when they visit. Another spot is the Forest of Language, Halvan’s library which holds the history of the rise of Arison and the fall of the forgotten city that lies buried in mystery. The Tiy-Kno Express temple is also a key point on any good map, being a pivotal mode of transportation across the kingdom that is safe and quick. The citizens may not like sorcerers but none can deny the importance and usefulness of things such as Waystones and potions. When one wants to relax and enjoy some entertainment, the amphitheatre located embedded into the Southern wall is the place to go. A favoured choice by Wanderling caravans that like to put on a show for its viewing windows overlooking the surrounding wild lands. Not the biggest reception as the city doesn’t get much tourism as it is a difficult city to reach by foot but those who live there find it pleasant enough.Taming Troops of Nathall - Coming Soon
