Necromancer

Dark wizards, blood wielders and corrupted souls. These are just a few of the names for magic users that use the spells of the Necronomicon to gain and wield magical powers. Often seen as a force of evil throughout the realms and one that is banished by society as a whole.

Appearance:

Necromancers are the same as any other Sorcerer in Violem, the only difference is that they use magical spells derived from the Necronomicon. If a spellcaster uses these types of spells long enough, dark circles begin to form around the eye sockets and the colour of life drains from their skin, leaving them more pale in comparison. They share the same half pointed ear shape as their counterparts and but show signs of dark magic stains on the tips of their fingers.

History:

In ancient times, Neroc The Dark Acuran attempted to rival the Elders of the Universe, believing their time had past and it was time for new deities to rule the cosmos. During his preparation all his spells and magical findings were written down in a book he named after himself, the Necronomicon. But his defeat came swiftly and his soul was banished to an eternity of torture by the elders, only leaving the book as a reminder of his actions.

Years later, the Necronomicon was found by sorcerers who wish to follow the steps of Neroc. This led to the first Necromancers in Violem. Overtime more and more spellcasters used the teachings of Neroc, attempting to increase their own magical powers and strength for personal gain often corrupting the souls that did. Due to the selfish nature of these followers, many would go against others who did not follow the exact same ideologies. This created a scattering of Necromancer brotherhoods and factions with their own goals in mind.
Throughout history, the rivalry between Necromancers and Sorcerers grew stronger and stronger until they merely saw each other as mortal enemies. But since sorcerers outnumbered them tenfold, Necromancers created smaller communities and underground civilizations to hide from plain sight and plan their next plans.
The most notable groups of Necromancers include the Crellan Creed, Cult of Chaos and the Blood Brothers of Syron.
