Maerah, the Acuran of Stone

Appearance:

Throughout time, Acuran's have become known as much more than just the first species on Violem to harness their magical powers. They literally wrote the incantations, experimented to create the fundamental rituals and drew countless runes until they got the desired affect. Acuran's shaped Violem to what it is today. The same can be said for the Acuran of Stone, Maerah. A tall, slender mural of beauty with her long flowing pure white hair and skin so fair she was as blinding as the daystar itself. Many descriptions of her state she was not only beautiful but a truly creative mind and hyper focused in any task she delved into.

Early Days:

The Acuran of Stone got her name by her sheer fascination of anything that was or resembled a stone. From the smallest pebble to the cliffs lifting the mountainous terrain of Cytal. It was this sedimentary material which began Maerah's journey into unlocking her mind to the aura around her. You see, the stories say she discovered her magical prowess after tripping over as a child. And in a moment of subconscious motion, she waved her hand at the nearest rock and transformed it into a glistening crystal formation. It was at this moment, the geode queen started her journey to become one of the greatest Acurans of all time.

Rise to Power

Through time, patience and several attempts, Maerah developed her skills of magic into adulthood. Now capable of doing anything her mind could possibly dream of. She took her natural creative mind and combined it with her gestural powers to carve and mold art, statues, sculptures and more from the basic elements of stones found on the ground. The boulders mined from the caves and when land slides swept by, she would turn the once treacherous foundations and tun them into objects of beauty. She practiced in the fields away from her village and the nearby forest. Eventually one field was not enough, it became two. Then three until an entire galleries worth of her creations were erected for anyone to bestow their eyes upon.   Upon returning back to her gallery, Maerah became detached from her thoughts of stone and stalagmites when she heard the screams inside the forest. She raced to investigate, only to find a group of villagers from her home-place surrounded by monsters of the forest. Teeth on show, claws ready to attack. She didn't have much time to react. By using the surrounding piles of stones and pebbles, she fashioned artificial creatures made of stone. They sprang to life and fended off the monsters with ease. The villagers were saved, thanking the magical woman for her protection. In all the praise and applause, the Acuran of Stone suddenly gained an idea.   She pondered and wondered through her stone collection of artworks and decided which would be used for her newest inspiration. She crumbled to the ground three or four statues and returned them to a raw form of rock and rubble. Before waving her hands in particular fashion to build, weave and blend her thoughts with the realm of reality. It was tough but eventually she forged the perfect home. Made of stone, and strong enough to protect anyone inside from the monsters that lived in the wilds. This one building flooded her mind with inspiration and desire to build more. The Acuran of stone got to work crafting walls, windows, buildings, towers, palaces all with details and embellishments of an artist until she had created an entire city. A blend of stone foundations and coloured with the furnishings of inhabitants quickly moving in for safety. She had created the first city of Cytal, a place that would be named after herself. For her efforts in building the city and protecting the people until the day she died.   The legacy of Maerah continued on for centuries after she was gone. A beacon of wonder for the non magical beings, an inspiration to the magically abled and a safe haven for Marubell saved from the labyrinth. Just as the foundations of the city was strong and sturdy, so was the name of Maerah and her influence on life in the realm of magic.

Fall of the city

Hard times fell over many people during the dark ages, and the citizens of Maerah were no exception. They were under seige by malevolent forces such as Cult of Chaos but were still able to stand their ground for many years. Then one day, seemingly overnight, the city fell into ruins. The people inside the city simply vanished and one the first great cities of Cytal nothing but rubble and ruins. No one has any idea about how or why the entire city fell, many believing the answers are lost to time itself...
