Emoji

Emoji is one of the more notorious vigilantes active primarily in the US north-east, though on several occassions he struck against notable villains outside of that area. This is achieved mostly by the virtue of his internet popularity, as he has thus far avoided striking against notable villains.
He is sometimes considered something akin to the strongest B-Lister of the Vigilante Network, one of the vigilantes targetting minor villains in the alleyways rather than established supervillains, that only achieved notoriety thanks to the way his individuality works.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Extremely well-trained, although less a body-builder and more a mixed martial artist with significant parkour element (so expect him to be lean and agile rather than simply strong - although he is plenty strong too).

Special abilities

Emoji's individuality is called Popularity. It's a power-stockpiling quirk that grants him access to a all-rounded physical amplification (allowing him to move faster, hit stronger and be moer durable) proportional to how popular he is. The more people talk or - to a much lesser degree - think about him (such as when they watch the recordings of his fights on the internet), the more energy gets stockpiled.
He is capable of amplifying only parts of his body (so, for example, only amplify speed, or focus the durability enhancement on the point of impact of an attack to make it stronger. This, however, renders him vulnerable to someone with more combat experience redirecting the attack at the last second. When he uses his power, he begins to glow faintly (less faintly if he pushes himself to a higher enhancement level), in a colour resebling a pinkish purple.
Emoji makes his takedown of villains public, recording them and indulging in showmanship (and some special effects) in order to prop his own popularity, and thus enhance his strength. His recordings are, naturally, taken down from the internet rather quickly, although the exact mechanism of his individuality is unknown to the police and the heroes who consider him to be a more 'normal' physical amplifier.
As a result, while suprisingly vicious and dangerous, he isn't quite on the danger level of most established vigilantes. If he ever manages something big (which makes him mentioned in the popular media) there is a possibility that he'll be massively enhanced, allowing him to try to stay in the higher league for longer.

Apparel & Accessories

His standard outfit is a neon-coloured hoodie, with black facemask and combat boots. The hoodie is actually armor-plated, and the mask is actually connected to the hoodie, both sides acting as rather customized helmet. The facemask displays various emojis to highline his spoken lines, has a voice amplifier to be better audible and is rather resistant to blows. It also has some air-filtration mechanism.

Smoke grenades, flashbangs, knuckledusters. He tends to fighty dirty and is proficient with improvised weaponry.

Personal history

No one knows exactly how Emoji was born, and why didn't he try to become a hero - something that was certainly in his grasp if he make a few different choices along the way. The theories vary between Emoji being one more failed Villain Academy candidate to him targetting the villains out of revenge, and not always doing things in public.
He has emerged as a notable name less than a year ago, during the last months before the outbreak of the Second Villain War, and has managed to maintain his notoriety to this day.

Intellectual Characteristics

Appears to a showman by nature, charismatic and knowledgeable about internet culture to maintain his popularity among the youth. He has proven repeatedly to be a quick thinker in combat, very capable in terms of using his environment against his enemies. On a few occassions he was seen clearly commanding his own vigilante crew, implying certain degree of command skills.

Morality & Philosophy

Emoji has targetted minor criminals and villains (local drug traders, thugs extorting protection money from local shops, even particularly nasty school bullies. He isn't above using terror tactics and more personalized punishments to the targetted villains. An example might be terrorizing a bully who caused heavy burns to their victim by trapping them in a house and fooling them with some special effects into making them think that the building's on fire (not to mention recording their suffering and panic from hidden cameras, including the moment when they clearly wet themselves - and then uploading the clip into the internet).
How much of it is strive for popularity, how much vengeance for something and how much genuine heroism, no one can tell.
