The Azure Assembly
The Azure Assembly is a powerful and influential governing body within the Hekkeran Empire. It consists of twelve individuals who are highly respected and regarded throughout the empire. The assembly serves as the primary high court within the empire and has various duties and responsibilities, including advising and aiding in governing the empire as a whole.
Unlike other governing bodies in the empire, the Azure Assembly does not hold elections, and the people do not decide who sits in one of the few chairs available within the assembly. Instead, when a member is inducted, they have until their death to name a successor or even a number of successors. The other members of the assembly then vote on whether or not to elect one of the individuals named.
The system of succession within the Azure Assembly has been in place for centuries and is unlikely to change anytime soon. While the Emperor is aware of corrupt individuals within the assembly, he also acknowledges those who are upright and has placed the responsibility of balancing themselves out on the shoulders of the assembly.
The current members of the Azure Assembly, listed in order of time served, are Bartholomew Cinders, Thaehwen Duskmire, Vivian Keller, Diana Kingsley, Iliana Ralenthal, Peter Halloway, Johanness Greeley, Elrond Vaskillus, and Gaius Vinderbaht. At present, there are three empty seats within the assembly undergoing new election, but some would prefer to keep them empty.

Bartholomew Cinders: Headmaster of the Cinder Spire Academy, Bartholomew is known for his wisdom and shrewdness in political matters.
Thaehwen Duskmire: A skilled ranger and warrior, Thaehwen is known for her keen senses and sharp mind. She represents the interests of the elves within the Azure Assembly.
Vivian Keller: A powerful diviner, Vivian is known for her ability to see into the future and predict events. She is often consulted by the Emperor and other members of the Assembly for her insights.
Diana Kingsley: A sorceress with a mastery over fire magic. She is known for her intelligence and ability to navigate most situations with knowledge and grace. She is respected for her magical abilities and her dedication to the Empire.
Iliana Ralenthal: A skilled diplomat and negotiator, Iliana is often called upon to settle disputes between different factions within the Empire. She is known for her calm demeanor and her ability to find common ground.
Peter Halloway: The eldest son of the head of House Halloway, Peter represents the interests of the merchants and traders within the Azure Assembly. He is known for his business acumen and his ability to make deals that benefit both parties.
Johannas Greeley: A retired general of the Imperial Army, Johannas now serves as the military advisor to the Azure Assembly. He is respected for his strategic mind and his experience on the battlefield.
Elrond Vaskillus: A renowned scholar and historian, Elrond is often called upon to advise the Azure Assembly on matters of law and tradition. He is known for his encyclopedic knowledge of the Empire's history and his passion for preserving its cultural heritage.
Gaius Vinderbaht: A wealthy and influential noble, Gaius represents the interests of the aristocracy within the Azure Assembly. He is known for his political maneuvering and his ability to sway others to his point of view.
