High Elf
Great Mages of Allysium
High Elves, also known as Sun Elves, hail from the country of Allysium, and are the most common type of Elf seen in Veteria. High Elves are extremely gifted magic users, and the Valia Academy of Magic is likely the most prestigious magical institution in all of Veteria. High Elves were created by Aevyros, the god of art and the arcane, and the first great god of the Astrum. Many of Aevyros's traits are present in the High Elves, as the High Elves are graceful and intelligent but can be condescending to other races. They went to war with Hemlock around 400 years ago, and since Elves can live up to 800 years, some still hold a grudge against humanity for that.
The High Elves have multiple large cities in Allysium, the capital of which is Valia. The Valia Academy of Magic is extremely respected, and entrance into the academy is very difficult. However, those who graduate with top marks will be essentially guaranteed a great job, or a spot in government. The academy has produced some of the most powerful wizards of all time, and many people consider the headmaster of the school to be the strongest wizard of his day.

Additional Information
Social Structure
High Elves have what is called a magocracy. This means they are governed in Allysium by a council of archmages, who make the decisions for the realm, with each large city overseen by an archmage. The archmages are appointed based on magical ability, intelligence, and age. The cities themselves have various departments that oversee the day-to-day issues, while the archmage oversees the big decisions.

Author's Notes
NOTE: This article was made with the original Dungeon and Dragons 5th Edition rules placed in the article as it was one of the first species articles I made. I decided to stop doing this early on for the sake of not causing confusion, as DnD has fluid, everchanging rules. I decided not to remove the rules to preserve the way the article has been for almost two years, but the 5th Edition rules only appear in this article and the Dragonborn article.
