Cassandra is a water mage. One of the main reasons she left Winrose for the Burrow was for the chance to be allowed to work her magic into her act.

Personal history
Cassandra grew up in an Lothnic orphanage until she was driven out of it when her nature as a water mage became known. She managed to scrape together a living by dancing for coins in the street, eventually striking a partnership with Violet Kosaka, whose own performing talent she recognized.
Cassandra and Violet would later be recruited by Janise Thompkins into joining the Winrose Theatre Company and trained as professional performers. Both did well in their studies, but Cassandra found that she didn't feel as at home in the bigger theater productions the company put on, especially as she wasn't allowed to use her water magic despite having shown its potential in her early acts.
A solution finally came when Janise introduced Cassandra to Arthur Stilcrique as a possible act for the mage-friendly Burrow. Arthur was impressed with her audition and agreed for Cassandra to be a regular act for the under-tavern.
Education
Cassandra received rudimentary education at the orphanage before she was forced to leave.
During her time with the Winrose Company, she completed her literacy practice along with gaining professional training as a performer.
Employment
While on the street, Cassandra managed to scrape by with dancing and occasionally playing music for coins. As to how she would find instruments to play, she would simply say it was easy to find ones she could afford once she learned where bards tended to stumble after a few too many drinks.
After being recruited and trained by Janise, she now performs for the Burrow as a regular act.

History
The two met while living on the streets in Sonheim. Recognizing Violet's talent as a singer and her disadvantage as a Half-Elf, Cassandra suggested they work together to earn more.

Commonalities & Shared Interests
They both love performing and seeing the other grow in their profession so much so that when Cassandra left Winrose while Violet flourished, there were no hard feelings between the two with both attending the other's performances when they can.

Why she was driven out of the orphanage when it was revealed that she was a water mage? It is my first article in this world I read and don't know the details.

The Lothnic religion promotes learning and honing classic skills like math, literacy, and art. Magic doesn't really fit into that since it's something you're born with and can't just learn later on, so that plus a bunch of social bias leads to a fair amount of discrimination. Also, I want to be clear that she wasn't automatically kicked out for her magic. Right now, I'm more imagining a period of serious bullying and harassment that lead to her running away.
