The Spider Queen

The Spider Queen is the goddess of deceit and envy, who spins complex webs of lies, treachery, and intrigue through the world. Llolth was once a more benevolent goddess called Araushnee, lover to Corellon and Sehanine, but she changed after delving too far into the darker side of magic. Something snapped inside of her that caused her to betray her beloveds, and she fled into the Underdark with her children, the drow. Ever since the Dawn War, Llolth has been plotting the demise of all other elven societies, and ultimately plans to kill Sehanine and Corellon. But like a spider, she is eternally patient. She weaves her webs of deception in the shadows, pitting her own people against one another until all of the weak and disloyal have been weeded out, while also slowly drawing her prey closer through ineffable schemes. Only then will she strike, and it will be with deadly swiftness.
Llolth used to be a beautiful drow woman, but her wicked deeds twisted her into a half-spider monstrosity. She is depicted as something akin to a drider, with a drow's body from the waist up attached to the body of a giant spider.

• It is better to be loved than feared, but you may certainly try to be both.
• Misdirection, slander, and shadowed steps have more function than direct conflict.
• Death to the elves who live under the sky, and death to all their allies!
