Dhunmarian Remnants

The Dhunmarian Remnants stand as the remnants of a once-mighty kingdom, survivors of the tumultuous Dhunmar-Swadian Holy War and the subsequent conflicts that shook the realms. Battle-hardened and resilient, these survivors navigate a changed world with the scars of their past etched into their every step.

Origin

One of the oldest provinces of the Old World and founders of the Federation, The Holy Cities of Dhumnar were a Theocracy that paid their respects and prayers to the pantheon of Gods, without any particular pre-selection. 'All of the Gods represent a part of ourselves, so therefore all goods must be venerated all the same'. Or at least that was their founding ideal. Some Gods have more twisted ethics than others, and when the Orcs at Dhunmar's outskirts also confederated and came together under 'Swad The Bastard' clan, a sudden shift into martial deterrence was noted, several schisms happened throughout the years, several civil wars. In the meantime, the now fully developed Kingdom of Swadia patiently waited for the correct moment to strike... The rest is old and marred history.

The Ruin of Dhunmar

In the annals of history, Dhunmar was a bastion of strength, a kingdom that stood proud until the tides of war shifted against them. The Swadian onslaught was relentless, and as Pornum fell, the Dhunmarian forces faced a harsh reality. Were they to keep retreating, the Swadian army would overtake their every flank, making any possibility of retaking the Holy Land an impossibility. But it seems fate was on their side. The Drows, The Onis once the Bogeyman for all children in both kingdoms, had returned and turned against them both. Holy Septim Rashkar led a desperate assault to Pornum gates while the Swadians retreated, modifying the balance of power, if only slightly.

The Fragile Alliance

The remnants, led by a council of war-weary leaders, forged an uneasy alliance with the Swadian survivors. United by a common enemy in the Onis, emissaries shuttled between Dhunmar and the surviving Swadian enclaves. A pact was sealed, an alliance to stand against the looming threat of Vitiate and his Oni forces.

The Divine and the Desperate

The emergence of god-woken figures showcased the terrible power that lay within the divine realm. Dhunmar struggled to keep their bannermen rallied after this newfound beacon of hope, losing cities and territory rapidly. The Divitum, a god-woken led organization, formed to resist the invaders. Support was sent to the New World, a gamble for a chance at salvation as their homeland crumbled.

The Siege of Legasa Revisited

With the majority of Oni forces across the waters at the ancient temple, the remnants seized the opportunity to mount a daring siege on Legasa. The city, once the capital of their sworn enemy, now stood transformed by Drow influence. The cannons roared until black powder reserves were depleted, and then, faced with uncertainty, they retreated into hiding away from their Swadian allies in what was considered 'Rashkar's Blunder'. Other tacticians of the time consider this the reason why the Dhunmarian remnants are still an independent force instead of amalgamating into a singular remnant force.

Echoes of Silence - Gods and Drow

Whispers among the remnants spoke of silence from the gods, unanswered prayers, and a dying forest. Drow ships plummeted from the sky, casting shadows on a land in decay. The once-reliable casters faltered, which allowed the Oni forces to take and settle in Pornum, if only momentarily. Questions lingered. Should they settle in the Peninsula or move on, leaving the remnants of their homeland behind?
