Hand

A Hand is the title given to the law enforcement that oversees contracts carried out by the Huntsman's Court. Their primary task is to accompany a Judge of the court, serving as both the watchers and executioners should contracts be violated. For the most part, Hands watch over two disputing parties and aid them in settling those disputes through written agreements, and do not raise their weapon unless either directly provoked, or upon witnessing a complete violation or disruption of contract.

Career

Qualifications

Those who join the Huntsman's Court are typically a Hand first; becoming one is a matter of taking a two month course of training to teach the Huntsman the proper procedures that come with being a Hand. Aside from this, there are no qualifications; the Court famously recruits from all races and perhaps most concerningly, ages. After becoming a Hand, it typically takes a year of service for one to qualify as a potential Judge; or one who oversees the contracts and leads other Hands to the parties with the intention of settling the dispute.

Other Benefits

Becoming a Hand is a well-paying job with many benefits; first and foremost, anyone that joins the Huntsman's Court is guaranteed a shelter or lodging within one of the many districts found across Tregaron City with no expense. Medical care is also likewise, paid for by the guild rather than the person.   Hands are often the most feared part of the Huntsman's court; as it's their weapon that's expected to be raised to aid others in enforcing contracts. Some might see this as a downside, but there's no denying the palpable terror that others feel at the sight of a Hand's raised weapon.

Operations

Tools

As is tradition, Hands hold access to workshop weapons; that is to say, special weaponry hand crafted for them by a smith. Weapons crafted by the workshop of the court are typically very heavy and visible, so's to add to the intimidation of the Hand. Axes, bardiches, and in rare cases, scythes, are often used to create a sense of palpable dread while they oversee contracts. Recent times have lead to many Hands preferring to use firearms; such as rifles or shotguns, or in some cases, custom weapons that mix melee and ranged options.

Dangers & Hazards

It stands to reason that an irate contractee may refuse to work with the contracts carried out by the Hands; though such a thing is rare due to their quick and merciless execution of violators, it isn't unheard of for rival guilds to hire bands of thugs or mercenaries to fend off Hands should they find a contract unfavorable.    Furthermore, joining the Huntsman's Court always leads to swearing a solemn oath to purge any and all things afflicted with The Blood Curse; which is a dangerous undertaking in its own right.
