The Charmed Lyre

"Welcome to the Charmed Lyre stranger. Please, don't mind the mess. Can I get you some wine, or a brandy perhaps?" ~Krea Glorybluff   The Charmed Lyre is a hidden gem in the great city of Dexraven. In fact, a more accurate term may be a needle in a haystack. This tavern is infamous for its constant relocation's, but if you can find it you will be treated to a delightful array of drinks and music. The high number of beast-folk and Elder Races who visit are enough to keep most humans away, so you would do well to watch yourself while with these walls.

Purpose / Function

The The Charmed Lyre is a tavern owned by Krea Glorybluff, a beast-folk woman who bares traits of a humming bird. Krea named her bar after the instrument she played as an entertainer and minstrel. It is a tavern of squalid quality, and its main draw is the surprising quantity and quality of drinks, as well as a band that plays every other night.   The Bartender Krea will often tend the bar, though her bouncer/body guard Asher Redstream will cover in her absence. When working the bar, she exudes a refined and charming persona. When Asher covers, he is friendly but direct.   The Clientele On a typical night, the clientele at The Charmed Lyre can be described as tumultuous. Patrons consist largely of Elder Races and Beast-folk, and there are many shady characters that visit in the taverns back room on a regular basis.

The tavern is constantly moving, and so it's layout is constantly changing.

Architecture

The Charmed Lyre often finds its home in one of the empty wooden rooms that liter Dexraven's Northern Quarter. These rooms are usually simple in design, with sturdy wooden floors, walls, and ceilings. There are usually few or no windows and so the darkness is offset with lights, both magical and mundane. The owner usually hangs colorful tapestries, or reflective metal sheets to try and brighten the room and mood of the establishment. The bar and furniture is simple, and mismatching. Usually patrons will bring or make chairs and stools to leave at the establishment, and they occasionally obtain a bench or couch.

History

The tavern was established in the year 1074 by a coalition of disenfranchised citizens of the Dexraven North Quarter to create a place where they could experience some of the relaxation and refinery that their human overlords often enjoyed. Since then it has been persistently persecuted by the human nobility, burned out, vandalized, attacked, and intentionally infested with vermin.
