Lizardfolk

About 30 years ago a new player appeared in Veneficia, the Lizardfolk. This reptilian species arrived from across the eastern sea and took over the land around the Volia river.

One day the ships just appeared on the horizon and the Lizardfolk were here. The King's men stood no chance against their massive army. Everyone who resisted was killed or taken prisoner

Biology

Anatomy

They are of human height and have scales all over their bodies, which are usually green. The most distinctive features of Lizardfolk are a long tail on the back and an almost white comb on the head.

Perception and Sensory

Lizardfolk don't have the same ears as Humans or Elves. Instead, they just have ear openings on the sides of their heads similar to lizards. For that reason, their sense of hearing isn't as good as of other species. Their eyes are much more developed to counteract that, and they can see colours much better than Humans or Elves. In the dim light, they see colours much better than other species.

Civilization

So far the Lizardfolk have successfully conquered the Volia river region and rarely venture outside it. When they do it is mostly in form of raiding armies. Merchants and other travellers rarely appear outside from the Lizardfolk occupied territories. Some people speculate that the military is all that is present there.

Cult of the Great Snake

It is said that the Cult of the Great Snake is the main religion of the Lizardfolk. According to their myths and legends, the Great Snake is the creator of all the Lizardfolk. He demands that his worshippers live in a strictly hierarchical society. Every Lizardfolk has a role in society which is determined by their birth.

Rissan Hegemony

Rissan Hegemony is the name spoken by many of the Lizardfolk soldiers. It is theorized that it is the name of their home country in the name of which they are conquering lands in Veneficia. According to rumours and interrogations, the Hegemony is ruled by an Emperor who is the head of a council of the most powerful warlords of the land.
