The Invitation to The Vell

Purpose

The purpose of this announcement which was documented by the Storykeeper of the village at the time, was to encourage the unity of Zaranta with Dorillin and Velki to form the settlement of The Vell.

Background

Before the announcement, the Rulers of the three villages had been in talks with their Storytellers to see if they could come together to form a single settlement. They knew how the sharing of information had helped with the curing of Weeping Warts and saved many lives, and were keen to reap the benefits which working together might allow.

The Invitation to The Vell

People of Zaranta, we live in strange new times.
As you know, I have been speaking with the rulers of two nearby villages and those talks have been of great interest and potential benefit to us.
Normally, I would ask a Storyteller to stand up and recount this to you all. I am not a natural with words. But I wanted to say this to you with my words, I needed to be the one to say this to you.
Joining with Dorillin and Velki is a good idea. It's going to be hard and it's not going to be without its struggles, but it is a very good idea. 
I won't force anyone to join the new settlement, but I am going to tell you why it's a good idea and I hope that you'll listen. 
It is a good idea because it gives us a chance at a new beginning. We can take all the good things we have built together and take them with us to this new place, and in return we get to revel in the new good things that the other villages bring with them. 
It is a good idea because we can share these good things with others and learn from them. We all know how much the news of Sweet Vale from the South has saved the lives of those afflicted with Weeping Warts. There could be more things like this. Sharing information like this is definitely a good thing. 
We will take the tower with us, we will retain what makes us who we are, but we will gain so much more. 
Like I said, I will not force anyone to come with me, and I will listen to any concerns you might have, But after speaking with the other rulers, and thinking about this long and hard, I intend to be part of this new settlement, and I hope you will all come with me.
