Qualifications
No qualifications are needed to be a Bearer. A person simply needs to choose the Bearers Vellich Profession Paths during the Path Choosing ceremony.
Career Progression
When one chooses the path of the Bearer, they must first be a Bringer, and help others bring new life into the world. This involves following the whole process from conception to birth and beyond from both the perspective of a Bearer and a Gifter.
Although many choose to stay as Bringers, and some return to being Bringers later in their career path, the next step could be choosing to be a Bearer or a Gifter. Bearers choose to generate eggs, gestate and then give birth to children, while Gifters simply gift the seed and are often able to have another profession part of the time as well.
Gifters, Bearers and Bringers may also choose to be a Raiser, and help raise the young once they hatch. Raisers, Gifters and Bringers may also be responsible for health care within the community.
Perception
Purpose
Bearers are the child bearing and child raising part of society. They fulfill every aspect of this process from conception to raising and teaching until they are ready to choose their own career path. They also act as health and medical experts within the community.
Social Status
They are a respected part of society, but not at the same level as the Rulers or the Storytellers. It is known that people can die during childbirth and that looking after and raising children is a difficult job which means that people are generally speaking slightly more patient with Bearers than they might otherwise be.
Operations
Workplace
The Bearer's House is their main place of opperations, where the children are born and raised and where people visit them if they are in need of medical assistance (and are able to do so).
