Aquilon Keep
The ancestral seat of power for the king of the Twins. The Castle is built of solid granite atop a bedrock outcropping just off shore of the Eldest Twin between the island and mainland Anglonia. The waters surrounding the castle are full of rocky outcroppings and are extremely dangerous to any ship trying to traverse them. There are only two entrances into Aquilon Keep. It is said to be impregnable. The main entrance to the keep is a stone bridge built just above the waterline. Every night as high tide approaches the bridge is swallowed by water and prevents passage into the castle. A gatehouse at the beginning of this bridge is built up as a tall tower. This town connects a handful of towers also built up along the bridge. Each tower connected by a rope bridge. There is no way from the stone bridge up into the towers above. The gatehouse is the only building with a staircase up. All of the towers have rope bridges connecting them that can be cut if the tower falls to an invader. Aquilon in it's long history has never been successfully captured nor sieged.
Purpose / Function
Aquilon is the seat of the King of the Twins and acts as the capital of the Twins.The leading member of the Jerece family is the ruler of the castle.
Architecture
Dark granite walls make up the exterior of Aquilon. The inside of the castle is beautiful with walls that are plastered white and blue in the patterns of the Jerece Family crest.
History
Aquilon was constructed by the second King of the Twins. Jon Jerece and the lords of the Twins all put forth massive resources to construct the castle in honor of Adwin Jerece the first king of the Twins who combined the might of the Twins under one rule.
