Black Iron Mountains

The Black Iron Mountains sit between the kingdom of Dallenvale and the Queldashi Empire. The mountains themselves are unforgiving both in terrain and climate. The mountains remain snowy and iced no matter the season. Only the most adept survivalists can survive the Black Iron peaks. The terrain is jagged and dangerous, one wrong step could lead to a thousand foot drop. The black ice that covers the mountain certainly doesn't help either. Very few animals and even fewer men can make a life upon these reaches, but many find the location to be blissful and tranquil. Though, the harsh wilds of the Black Iron peaks often turn the inhabitants into supreme hunters. In order to survive, prey learns to forage and hide with proficiency, thus predatory animals must be even faster and dangerous. And, if the Black Iron tribes of men can survive these apex predators, they must truly be the most skilled survivalists in the land.

Geography

The Black Iron Mountains have lots of fresh water runoff streams running down the mountain from the snow that falls year round. Hosting the most dangerous and unforgiving terrain and climate, the mountain's ranges are rather barren. The mountains host a strange climate effect: upon scaling the mountain a traveler will find harsh blizzards and strong wind currents, but once you reach the peaks and break the clouds, the weather becomes calm. The winds die down to the point that the air sits still. Snow sits still and unmoving. The air is frigid, but the lack of air and tranquility of the area prevents the mind and body from even acknowledging the cold air. The view from above the cloud break is like nothing you've ever seen before. Very few can claim to have ever seen the view, but the existing descriptions of it can't possibly do it justice.

Fauna & Flora

Very little flora can survive the harsh climate of the Black Iron Peaks. Thus, the extent of flora that can survive thrives as the soil real estate is vast and unchallenged. Rams, snow fox, and white hares feed on snow berries, frost leaves, and honey bark which are some of the only edible plants that survive in the harsh climates. Beyond that, there are snow beetles, ice serpents, grey badgers, and the illustrious blue elk that roam the mountain tops. In addition, sabre-tooth cats, dire wolves, giant goats, brown bears, mountain lions, and snow leopards hunt the smaller prey that lives upon these peaks. Finally, the race of men known as Goliaths manage to not only survive in competition with these predators but even take their place as the apex predator of the Black Iron Mountains.

Natural Resources

Beyond fresh water, iron ore, and the occasional jewel there isn't much that the Black Iron Mountains offer. That being said, no man has attempted to mine into the mountain, at least not yet...
