Lay To Rest (LTR) Order
Lay To Rest (LTR) orders are similar to a Do Not Resuscitate order. They indicate that the hunter who completed the form wishes to be staked upon any potential turning. The document remains attached to the permanent personnel file after signing, but can be revoked later on by a countermanding order.
LTR orders are intended to be followed post-turning. If a hunter is immediately turned in the line of duty, they will be staked when found. If they are simply bitten and infected with the vampire venom, the order will be overwritten with a 'postmortem' version, also attached to the file, and all paperwork will be stamped LTR after the incident. Upon the hunter's natural or in the line of duty death, they will be transported to one of several sites where they will be staked, the body cremated, and the ashes hermetically sealed.
LTR documentation is legally required to be provided to all new hunters upon entry to an academy. While it is not a requirement for being a hunter, many students do choose to put an LTR on file, in case of any eventual turning.
