Hunter Clothing

Hunter gear is designed not to appear tactical, so that hunters can operate without drawing undue attention to themselves. Hunters are allowed to dress however they choose, within reasonable dress code restrictions. However, there are certain items of clothing that every hunter wears on active duty.   Every hunter either provides or is issued a high-quality leather jacket. Sometimes hunters have their own jackets that have been handed down in the family from a retired relative. Other times they're first generation or their family members are still on active duty, and the agency issues a new jacket. The jackets (whether issued or provided by the hunter) must cover the neck and fasten tightly at the top to protect the neck. Buckle straps across the neck are preferred to snap or simply zippered closures, and these buckles are often silver plated. Every jacket is embroidered with the insignia of the hunter's current agency, although the insignias of former agencies may be left on the jacket as long as they are covered with a single diagonal red stripe.   Some hunters use the newer fang-proof high-neck vests made of kevlar, but most continue to use the traditional leather jacket, as it allows for ease of blending into vampire underground clubs and the general night scene in cities.   Many hunters choose to augment their protective equipment with wrist guards, typically also leather. These cuffs are designed to protect against bites to the fragile skin of the wrists. Most of them are closed with buckles, since snaps can be pulled open more easily by an attacking vampire.
