Yorespire
Built at the height of the Dragons' rule, Yorespire was one of their finest cities. Constructed by the Metallic dragons, the city was designed to be a gathering place for historical knowledge and artifacts. The city was built and maintained by the Silvarra, the shapeshifting elves hailing from the northern expanse of Mor'tora.
Yorespire is one of the oldest known cities in Mor'tora. It's history is debated, the Silvarra claim it was constructed by their ancestors, but Draconic lore alludes to them having built the city and The Spire of Yore for which it was named. The city is nestled on the shore of norther Jhifae and is a major port for the Awenmont Empire, rivaling the Awenmont Military's own. The town, while still susceptible to the bias and prejudices of the Empire, is much more welcoming to races that aren't typically present, a fact on which its recently nominated regent, Inabella Thealia, prides herself on. Since the exile of the regions last Duke, Sebastian Rhinna, she has, to the chagrin of the The Awenmont High Council, taken on the role spectacularly and is much loved by her subjects, the Silvarra in particular, as her status has allowed her to make their lives much easier than they have in the past.
Government
Until recently, Yorespire has been ruled by a Duke appointed by the Empire's High Council. After the duke and duchesses exile, Pelleas Fenynore was asked by the local government council to fill the role until such a time that a new regent could be placed, one not under the thumb of the High Councilor. Two months into the position, Pelleas petitioned for a dear friend and fellow Silvarra to take the position.
Inabella Thealia has done a delightful job in the two years that she has held the title and it has led to a -- while still not ideal -- more equitable city more than just the Drokken and Human.
Architecture
The buildings and architecture of Yorespire are varied. Older parts of the city that have survived the ravages of time and disaster are mostly made of wood. Outside of the Old Town District, much of the newer architecture is stone -- the Old Town District is easy to spot because of this. The city is tightly packed with shops and hovels, many residential buildings are designed for multiple families to reside within.
