Shasarek Desert

This desert is the driest location in all of Vallonde, with the Nalhaya River being the essential live-giving source of water for the whole region. At the heart of the desert are a system of shifting sand dunes that have claimed many lives over the years. The Shroud of Kaalif plagues this desert and its surrounding areas, with a common belief that the body of the Dragon Kaalif is buried somewhere among the dunes. The desert is entirely within the Shasarek Shogunate, whose residents are experts at traversing and surviving in it. The desert has made the region, and thus the Shogunate, extremely difficult to conquer.
