Inniash Khaganate

Government: Khaganate. A Khagan rules over many Khans below him, each of whom rule their own Khanate.   Cultures: Innish   Official Religion: Path of the Ancestors   Population: 610,000   History: The Innish are many, and widespread. The Logicmasters believe them to be the first culture to master animal riding, and believe that this mastery along with their nomadic tendencies allowed them to survive in countless small groups during the 1st Epoch. When the 2nd Epoch came, the Innish Sorcerers were among the strongest believers that mixing draconic bloodlines was necessary to compound power, whilst most of the world at the time believed that keeping the bloodlines as pure as possible yielded the strongest results.   Ambitious Sorcerers would title themselves Khan, and seek out other Sorcerers to conquer in order to integrate their draconic bloodlines within their lineage. This primitive style of war and pillaging lasted through much of the 2nd Epoch, until a powerful Sorcerer Khan named Datsakhanjar set out in 570 2E to unite all Khans under a Khaganate. As she did so, she taught a different style of life, where Khans would make and trade alliances through marriage, and thus continue compounding bloodlines in a less savage, more peaceful way.   The peace and structure brought by Datsakhanjar's ideas appealed to many war-wearied Khans, who joined her, and together conquered those who resisted. The Inniash Khaganate was declared by Datsakhanjar in 594 2E. Soon after, the rise of the Logicmasters caused great conflict among the Khaganate. They had the most numerous amount of Sorcerers per capita due to the constant and encouraged mixing of bloodlines. Purging Sorcerers out of the Khaganate took longer than any other place in the world, and Sorcerer blood is so integrated into its people that in modern times Sorcerers manifest within the Khaganate more than anywhere else in the world.   The Khaganate shattered in 115 3E after the purge of the Logicmasters, and devolved into endless fighting between Khans once more. Over the millennia, Khanates rose and fell in power. At 244 4E, Khan Tolusim declares the Great Gathering of Khans, in order to unite the Khans once more and vote upon a new Khagan. At the meeting, Tolusim commits treachery and kills all the other Khans by poisoning except Gurgonbuyant the Wise, who suspected his treachery. Gurgonbuyant faces Tolusim, and kills him in 1 on 1 combat. Gurgonbuyant names a new Khan from each Khanate (often the eldest son or daughter of the previous Khan) and unites them under his Khaganate, reforming the Inniash Khaganate.   Throughout the rest of the 4th Epoch, the Khaganate continues to conquer and expand its borders Westward, claiming the states to its West (which now comprise Corenthia) as vassals. Upon reaching the borders of the Elven Princedom in 253 4E, they began to push through their borders. War was declared one year later. After 6 years of back and forth fighting, peace was made with the Khaganate having gained some small territories from the Elves.   After the end of the Elven-Innish war, the Khaganate experiences years plagued by upstart Khagans, and rebellions from their vassal territories. As other nations began to grow and solidify in their power, the Khaganate found their enemies and rebellions gaining foreign support. Not overtly, but covertly. When Corenthia formed right under their noses in 6 5E, the Khaganate was forced to examine their practices. The Khaganate decided to peacefully withdraw, and recognize Corenthia, a move that shocked many. A second Great Gathering of the Khans was declared, and it was decided that the Khaganate would begin a period of peace, introspection, and spiritual growth. The Khans were ordered to better their communities, to cultivate, to avoid conflict unless it was forced upon them. The Innish people have taken the message to heart, and the nation is rather serene in modern times.
