Stitches General

Stitches Types

.

-Leather: Jack of all trades, Durable, can do many things well but only one or two masterfully

-Wrappings: Strategic minds, Nimble, Surprisingly Perceptive (Considering they have no visible eyes.), lost limbs can easily be reattached without sewing kits.

-Steel: Strong, Hardy, Heavy, practical thinkers, do heavy labour, can memorise a blueprint by glancing at it but couldn't remember something from a book if their life depend on it.

-Patches: A Hybrid between Leather and Wrappings, generally okay at most things but have a "Calling" where they are intuitively masters at a field and have unparalleled passion for it. Tend to be very emotional and good thinkers.

-Plate: The Combination between Steel and anything else. These stitches are strong and dependable but often don't understand subtext or sarcasm. They have steels plates positioned over their body and have what is often compared to a knights helm positioned on their head.

Currency (& Exchange Rates)

Thread- The lowest Value in Stitches Currency. Roughly Worth 1/2 of a copper coin. A long iron coin with a thin, thread-like copper centre on the Tail. The Head depicts the Stitches City's silhouette that it originates from.

Bit- A common coin for change in Stitches Cities. Worth 13 Threads, worth roughly 7 copper coins. A small nonagonal coin made of duralumin. Depicts a Poppy wreath on the tail side and Depicts the current Ruler of the City of Origin with said cities name inscribed beneath. Commonly has commemorative events printed on the tail side of the coin in celebration.

Button- A frequently used coin in Stitches Cities, hold a fair amount of value. Worth 8 Bits, worth roughly 5 Silver and 6 Copper coins. A round copper coin with 4 small holes punched through it and filled with glass, it has a thin silver ribbon on the outer area of the coins faces. The Head of the coin depicts a stylised rendition of it's city of origin's crest/banner. The Tail of the coin depicts river lilies.

Nut- A high value coin, frequently used by merchants, nobles, tourists and outsiders. Worth 5 Buttons and 4 Bits, worth roughly 2 Gold, 9 Silver and 8 Copper coins. A small Bell shaped silver "coin", it bears a wreath of pyrite flowers around the top of the "coin" and has the city of origin in golden text. Inside the bell is a small nugget of wood, hence the name. This coin lacks a head or tail due to its shape.

Shirk- An extremely high value coin, rarely seen in actual trade outside of private deals or high end gambling. Worth 2 Nuts, 2 Buttons and 2 Bits, worth roughly 7 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Copper. A pendulum shaped silver and platinum marbled coin, along the "blade" of the coin is written the cities of origins name, the production date and a portion of The Trenchman's Creed (The final line). The head of the coin depicts an unknown figure in knights armor, commonly assumed to be the character "Bernard" from legend. The tail of the coin depicts a "Birch Eye Tree" native to the Gnarled Wilde's. The coin is often considered unlucky by Stitches due to it's value of 13 Buttons, the inclusion of The Trenchman's Creed's around the outside and the "Birch Eye Tree" depicted on the back of the coin, have lead to many superstitions. Such as how the coin being Tail end up on a flat surface, is supposedly considered and invitation for The God of Death to vist you.

Pendulum- The highest value of Stitches Currency, only printed in limited numbers and only used on exteremely high value items. Worth roughly 14 Shirks, roughly worth 102 Gold, 4 Silver and 8 Copper. This "Coin" is comprised of a small hourglass containing White Sand and Black Liquid (representative of Consciousness and The Void. Both substances are separated and cannot mix.) set into an engraved silver disk and orbited by 4 platinum rings. Each platinum ring has different things engraved upon it. The (outer) first ring apparently has the lullaby for the "Shade Song" engraved upon it in void tongue. The (middle) second ring has Poppies engraved along it like a wreath. The (other middle) third ring has all the Stitches City names engraved upon it. The (Inner) fouth and final ring has only the production date and the city of origin engraved into it. The hourglass is considered to be a reminder for Stitches of the Paradox of their existance.

Anything from before the Stitches arrived on Vallen (~200 years ago) is completely lost, only thin fragments like names and common knowledge of but not about something.

Shared customary codes and values

Flowers are social statements and have heavy meaning.

Going into the Millitary is cosidered a good thing and is basicly manditory by social presure.

Stitches commonly carry dried and fresh flowers of various types on thier person, this resaults in them smelling rather floral most of the time.

If insulted a stitches may challenge someone to a duel. This involved the two meeting in an areana at a agreed upon time with a flintlock and rapier to fight until someone looses a limb or is to injured to continue

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

The colour White is Beautiful. Whilest other races associate the colour with Death, Stitches associate it with Wealth, Power and Perfection.

Those of Tall Height are thought of as Pretty.

Intellegence, Abillity, Creativity, Good Posture and Poise are considered attractive and incredibly important in a good match. One member of both parts of the Match must have qualities that the other lacks.

Most circles agree that a slight defiance of social norms is an attractive quality, as it displays a willingness to fight. Too intense deviation however, is often looked down upon as "causing a fuss" and "dangerous behavior".

It is commonly thought of that "A Good Foxhole will have Some Mould." A saying that means no place is complete without Greenery and Plantlife. Wood and various Plants are frequently featured in Stitches Architecture and Designs.
