The Tideblade

The Tideblade, also known by some as The Oceanheart, is a legendary enchanted sword, said to give the wielder power over the seas themselves.   Described as a silver-bladed sword, which seems to glow from within with a shining blue light; other details are sparse about the Tideblade. Few have heard of it; fewer still have any knowledge of its story and resting place.   The last vague accounting of its whereabouts place it within an ancient Elven city, known as Ión-Tarnis, which is said to have sank below the waves, long ago in ages past. The location of Ión-Tarnis is currently unknown.
'Through the Arch, twixt sky and sea, Ión-Tarnis calls to me."
The words of a nursery rhyme, remembered and related by an exceedingly old elf, shortly before his accidental death during the arrest of Pettigrew "Pete" Smiles, Legendary Pirate, may yet be the only remaining clue in living memory as to the location of the lost Elven city, within which the blade is said to reside.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Through a stong, permanent enchantment, the Tideblade gives the wielder an innate magical control over water of any sort. As the blade and the wielder become more acquainted with one another over time, the wielder may even find themselves feeling a strong connection with the life of the sea, calling upon allies from the undersea depths in their times of need.   A secondary enchantment upon the Tideblade causes it to glow, seemingly from within, with a shimmering blue light.

Significance

The historical significance of the Tideblade is unknown. Many thousands of years have passed since the city of Ión-Tarnis sank beneath the surface of the ocean, and out of living memory. Given the supposed power of the weapon, however, it may speculated that it was once the weapon of a powerful individual; perhaps the local ruler, or a legendary hero of the times.
