King Ranneth Illyr
One of the final monarchs of the Illyr dynasty, Ranneth would rule The Kingdom of Vallanna for thirty-nine years, from 863AoU until his death in 902AoU; being succeeded by his only surviving child, Camilla Illyr.
A largely popular king, Ranneth is notable for overseeing the expansion of diplomatic ties to the neighbouring Empire of Ruvaad; negotiating co-operation in exploring and patrolling the eastern Auric Wastes.
Ranneth and his wife, Lena, would sire three children - Elias, Aquila and Camilla. Ranneth would long assume that his eldest, Elias, would be his heir, and indeed the young prince shared many of the qualities which Ranneth most prized in himself and in a prospective future king of Vallanna. Tragedy would strike, however, in 901AoU, as both Elias and his brother Aquila would lose their lives when the ship upon which they were travelling was caught in a storm in the Sea of Whispers and be sunk.
The loss of both of his sons would take a huge emotional toll on Ranneth, and he would die unexpectedly the following year, in 902AoU, having never recovered from the ordeal and succumbing to a short illness.
